Anyone Else Read DJ Mag's Review Of Flying Lotus' $tunt$ ???

i bought DJ Mag for the first time in ages a couple days ago because they were giving away a free Benga mix CD...
i got home put on the CD (which is obviously supreb) and started to read through the magazine itself...
i got to the reviews section and read the following...
'Cunning stunts at that. Is Flying Lotus the man who proves that Dilla's influence can only be malign, can only lead to diminishing returns of bedroom-wankery bearing no relation to anything you want to hear unless you're a painfully elitist hipster with ownership of everything and understanding of nothing? Yes, I think he is. Me and you and yer mum could cook up more interesting sounds in roughly the time it takes to listen to this half-baked non-threatening mediocrity. Ignore this twat forever.'
1/5

Thing is that 99% of reviews that complain about "hipsters" do so because they think they're hipper than the hipsters. It's the reverse-Barley manouvre and it stinks. It's exactly the same reviewers who would complain just as hard if something is populist.

I would think that harsh of a James Morrison review.

Is this the issue that's been out for most of the month? Popped in my local smith's and couldn't find it
As for the review, being so unprofessional i would guess it's a guest review, which would throw up whether Benga reviewed the section as he has done the CD?

Really, though, I don't understand the Flying lotus appeal. He's made some good songs, but to me, in general he substitutes soul/feeling with flashy glitch. Glitch that lacks rhythm.
Honestly, it surprises me how many of you out there on the internerd love this dude. I've said it before but i just don't get it.
His style does seem like a blatant derivative of dillas style. Everything of his that was original.

Very unproffessioal and silly on the reviewers behalf but just assuming it could be Benga being the reviewer because he has a mix cd on the frontcover is nearly as silly.

bahhh fuck that isht . anyone who can't find the soul in FlyLo's production isnt looking hard enough
paper crane gang, orbit brazil , stunts , tell me theres no soul in those tunes.
the 2nd half of stunts is like glitch/soul, how can you not rate that
not saying he's the messiah but cmon, hate on something that deserves hate, like pendulum

I wasn't assuming but purely suggesting that as a possibility, i don't actually think it was Benga but just throwing it in the mix. Anyone is capable of dislike and bad words, and whoever it was shouldn't have made it public.

Well if you really didn't think it was him then why even mention it... what was the point of 'just throwing it in the mix'.

Hmm...that happens to be one of my favourite tunes...I must be a painfully elitist hipster with ownership of everything!

Because it seems an applicable suggestion in the circumstances. But in hindsight it was a mistake on my part to actually state a name
