Lil Wayne is a genius!?

Post by bobbyp » Mon Oct 20, 2008 4:10 pm

Hey up,

Toby at the Quietus here - any Lil Wayne fans out there? We've been having a bit of a debate in the office lately....
Is Lil Wayne any good, or his he just a 'Lil Bugger', hopping on an already overfull band wagon?

Anyways, we though the best way to settle the debate was to look back over his career so far.....

have a read of it here, if you fancy: http://www.thequietus.com/articles/the- ... -lil-wayne

Laters!

lil wayne is a retard

his lyrics mean shit, people jus like his style an delivery

his recent fame is due to only that he was literally studying jay z's flow and swagger, bit it and put his own ignorant twist on it

how many times can yu make an album solely on money, cars, hoes, and weed

lil wayne is now doin the t-pain sound, singin on erry body's stupid ass repetitive disposable songs

which btw he didnt have the balls to do until after he saw snoop singin sexual eruption

and dont make me get started on the fact that jus cause he got dreads, man think he is from a island

all lil wayne does is glorify and perpetuate ignorance that keeps black people in a suspended state of materialsm

buy a car wit rims and yu too can floss up and down yur hood while still eatin raen noodles 3 imes a day in yu roach infested shit hole

his symbolism allagories and punch lines are barely comprehensible, yu really gotta believe that they make sense, or be on as much as crack as he is to truely "get it" but then again, after yu have said "im rich, i fuck hoes, and im high" for the umpteeth time, i guess yu gotta figure more ways to say that, even if it makes no sense at all

lil wayne is shit

to be perfectly honest, i know of M.O.P, but hadnt heard the name Lil' Fame before as ive never really been impressed enough to get into american rap/hip hop. all i can really tolerate is some of Tupacs work and a couple of DMX albums, namely Its Dark and Hell is Hot, And Then There Was X also Flesh of my Flesh, Blood of my Blood. oh yea, lol and ive got most of Eminem's and D12's albums

you people that say lil wayne is hot need to listen to Word2Jah. This man knows what the fuck he is talking about. Or if you dont take your music advice from smart people on message boards how about taking it from Dead Prez:

"Emcees get a little bit a lovin think they hot
Talkin bout how much money they got, ****** all your records sound the same
I'm sick of that fake thug R&B rap scenario all day on the radio
Same scenes in the video, monotonous material, yall don't here me though
These record labels slang our tapes like dope
You can be next in line and signed and still be writing rhymes and broke
You rather have a Lexus? or justice?
a dream or some substance?
a Beamer a necklace or freedom?

We be DP RBG for life, TURN OFF THE RADIO!
The revolution won't be televised, TURN OFF THAT BULLSHIT!
We be DP RBG for life, TURN OFF THE RADIO!"

I'm pretty sure Lil Wayne is the epitome if what they were talking about.

jeez since when do you have to agree with every single word of a persons lyrics to enjoy their music. folks need to chill out.

and to use dead prez as a reference point? haha, they might have some half interesting things to say when they're not talking about mugging a 'white boy in the wrong place at the right time' or separating crowds at their gigs into black people and white people.

yu dont have to agree wit everything an artist says to enjoy it,

but it would serve yu well to align yurself to some positive artists

im jus sayin, i live in ATL, where the newest hip hop movement is,.....the radio is ridiculously shit and i get bombarded wit this dr. seus rhyme schemes and t-pain effects, and random sample clips about husslin, slangin, smokin, fuckin, flossin, blah blah blah

trust me its overwhelmingly tiresome to hear all this 24/7 and then come to a forum dats for one of the most cutting edge new sounds of our time and see people advocating what i'd like to see is the polar opposite of what dubstep is about

but again this is jus my opinion, wtf do i know eh?

Don't hate.

If you don't like Pop music don't listen to FM radio during the daytime in major cities.

Don't quote rap lyrics as an argument, or as evidence that you are right.

Stop confusing Rap with Hip-Hop.

so wait, are you saying Dead Prez is rap or hiphop?

And in a discussion about this sold out ass rapper i cant quote another mc talking about sold out ass rappers? isnt that the most relevant way to make an already well-stated point? Is it because Prez speak intelligently rather just just rhyming the same 1 & 2 syllable words over & over? How about I quote another MC that also has spoken out about the exact same things. Change rather than complacency.

"Turn on the radio, nah, fuck it. Turn it off.
Fear is your only God on the radio, nah, fuck it. Turn it off."

To simply ignore ignorance is not always the best option.

Werd2Jah...you speak wise words my friend.
