WHARFEDALE DIAMOND 8.2 PRO ACTIVE STUDIO MONITORS??

Does anybody know anthing about these? From what I've read they're pretty nice. Good frequency reponse, resonable price... all that jazz.
I found a pair for $225(usd) So I'm gonna go give em a listen but I'm wondering if anyone on here personally uses them. They don't seem to be too big in the states. So maybe some of the UK cats will know what's up.

if you're using them for serious production, cheap monitors are generally a waste of money
i know this is not necessarily a helpful comment, but one that can't really be stressed enough imo. i wouldnt spend less than 1000 myself (which is cheap in this realm anyway)
you gotta do what you gotta do, i bought cheap ones once. but i think it was a bad move, shoulda saved up.

used to be more the case though.
its entirely silly to buy a 1000+ quid monitors if your not treating your room in any sort of way.
alot more cheap options are alot better than they used to be,
granted they wont come up against a nice pair of big genelecs/harbeth/dynaudio etc but for a hobby musician who is making music but hasn;t treated their room in anyway would be an utter waste of money buying expensive as fuck monitors.
loving my new tapco s8's, ns10 high end but with a low end to match, lovely imaging and tight, can hear reverbs and mistakes in tunes that ive never been able to hear before (apart from on my ns10's and various other speakers)

I'm using a pair of Diamond 8.1 for production, which is the smaller version of these.
I got these off eBay for £ 80 - that's well below £ 1000- still, I love them ! Very flat response, they really reveal what's going on. Also, the mixes I did on these sounded very well on other systems too. Don't expect earth-shattering bass from them, which I think is only a good thing. In my opinion, it's much more important to hear the right balance between the different elements.I normally just use another set of speakers that are more bass heavy to check if everything is ok at the lower end.
These speakers really remind me to NS 10's somehow and I find it very pleasant to work on them. No fancy Mackies or Genelecs by any chance, but perfectly useable. I don't think I will ever get rid of them, even if I will upgrade one day to Genelecs or something similar.
At the end of the day, what matters is whether you get used to the sound of your monitors and learn how to use them. I've seen people belting out massive tunes on the worst hifi speakers one can think of...

I'd love to go out and spend $1000/$2000 on monitors but I'm simply not in that position. I'm on a budget. I realize these aren't gonna be god's gift to monitors or anything. But I need someting NOW.. I'm currently mixing in my headphones and that's just not gonna cut it. I'm looking at these or something in that price range (rocket 6 or 8's, alesis mk1's) something along that lines. When I'm all rich and shit I'll go get some genelecs. I'm just wondering if these hold thier own w/ other monitors in the price range.

i'd think the price makes just as much difference as it used to, just that they're all better...
ns10s are famous for sounding like crap, that's why they were commonly used alongside other monitors to reference the crap frequencies at later stages in the mix or what not.

ns10's were used as most studios only nearfield for ages, ns10's are all about the mid frequency peak it makes them sound horrible, but is perfect for mixing and pointing out errors within a mix, esp in rock music where a large majority of the important stuff is!
i own a pair and wouldn't sell them for the world my ns10's get the final say on mixdowns everytime!
for someone who is just using the speakers in a room thats untreated for making a few tunes, most mid to low priced monitors will do, the krk's are superb and alot of people swear by them.
really is no point in putting expensive speakers in an untreated room, the room will be doing alot more damage to your mixes than having a slightly cheaper pair of monitors will.

room acoustics is probably one of the biggest things working against you, but as someone said, might of been you, if you learn your speakers and to a certain degree learn your room theres nothign stopping you getting good mixes!
there is a reason why it costs major money to get a room's acoustics done! Becuase its bloody complicated and time consuming lol.

$1000 is about £500 pounds so I can see where he's coming from, im on a tight budget as well man

Ha ha. Good one. Very wrong though.....
You can pick up a pair of studio monitors for £300 that will do 95% of the job. That extra 5% could cost you another £30k easily if you want to start being silly about it.
If you are looking for some good monitors try pick up some Tannoy Reveals, the old style ones below. Should be able to get a pair for £200 or less????

Nice one. You absolutely need decent speakers to get a decent mix. If I cant use my speakers then I don't bother making music because it just comes out sounding like shit otherwise.

I want to get some KRK's ive only ever used them once at a mates and they sound amazing but there is so many different kinds.
What is the best for value for money?

I would not recommend Alesis speakers to anyone. They are not a very true sound at all.
