I'm almost speechless after last night!!!!

Last night was the first time I heard dubstep on a proper sound system!

It felt like I had been battered about the chest and kicked in the face , all,while loving every minute of it.

Even with ear plugs, it was almost too much!!

Most definitely. I told ya last night that that sound was retribution to me. I thought my tunes sounded like shit on the system on thursday, but they sounded tight on the system last night. That sound was HUGE. Good to get lifted with you! Big up Pinch and Distance, I was loving the tunes!

It was my first time hearing dubstep on a proper system as well.
Amazing. I swear I could not stop skanking, doing the two step shuffle, air drumming and nodding my head.

The music and the system was absolutely f'in aces.

Warren, you made up in your dancing for all the people that didn't know what to do...HA! For someone who doesn't smoke, I was surprised at how raspy your voice was at the end of the night. You were going off! Wicked show with huge sound!

believe it or not I was stone cold sober as well... .The bass and beats just moved me.
I am feeling it today though! My calfs are so sore My throat is also a little sore from all the shouting and grunting I did as well. I just couldn't help it - the music and sound was great.

Damn- the wobbling bass is now permanently etched into my brain.

The last plate that Pinch played was totally - well... no words for it. I asked him what it was but I forgot. He said something about it being released in the future. I hope he sees this and reminds me/ us what the record was. Jeez and Distance played Political Warfare!!! Thank you for playing that Distance I just adore that dub. I hope it gets a release.

I am also hoping Djunya's stuff gets released. Thanks to Nick for playing some of his great unreleased stuff.

I was front and center the entire night, right in front of the subs (that was me hugging the cabinets) 7 feet tall bassbins, and I didn't wear any earplugs (I bought them for the party though, for people like you)

It is the best soundystem I have ever used, and remember - that is a mobile PA, and I don't wok in clubs club. For a rave that sound was fucking proper.

Ask Distance and Pinch about the sound... I think their perspective is quite a bit different than yours.

If there was distortion then it was the DJ's fault that was playing at the time.

My set was perfect on the ears, but then again I use and EQ to EQ a track, not to make it as bright and as bass-ey as possible

The sound is a mirror of what you put in.

18"s in that place would not be as tight as the setup we had. We tested 15"s, 18"s, and even a 21" woofer setup.

The people I work with know WAY more about sound than you do...JK Sound has been doing events for over 10 years.

When you thow a party and shell out almost $7000 to do the event, and set it up for over a week, then we will see how good your setup is...

I didn't wear earplugs most of the night either. I had no problems with my hearing the next day at all. I thought the sound was great. That room was big and the ceilings were tall - also there was alot of concrete in there so there is invarariably the problem of reverb and echo which presents a great challenge for the soundguys to overcome .

So I thought that for a room with no acoustic adjustments made to it the sound was perfect. Especially about 4 to 5 feet away from the R. and L. speakers in the center in front of the dj . At that point in the room the high ends were crisp and the bass waves had enough time to develop in order for my body to absorb them.

BTW Ripple I really like that phasing thing you do with the EQ on the mixer it sounds cool. I used to see the Detroit techno dj's use that alot. You have it down to a science.

so, first of all, any dubstep event at this point deserves praise just for being available...distance and, for me personally, pinch rocked it- they both know how to use tones and frequencies to the best effect.
that being said, i personally do not appreciate having my ears shredded by high decibal "sound systems"-dubstep is about BASS, not punch...
please dont take this as a personal affront, those who put this together, its not meant to be an attack, i just value my hearing.
i've been djing for a while now, and i've managed not to lose my hearing yet, maybe you should check yours....

I don't take it personally.

But I do know how many soundsystems I have used, and how many different venues, and how much money is needed.

That being siad - that is the best sound I have ever had at my event. It was also the best sound I have EVER heard Dubstep on.

I too have been djing for while now (over 10 years) - I am 37.

I have been producing events for half as many years.

I run my own soundsystem - 2 18"s, 2 15"'s, 4 12"'s, and 4 monitors. 1/2 of it was in the second room, which sounded dope BTW.

These are undergound events, not permitted, and we roll the dice every time as far as the venue we get to use, and how to set it up without going broke.

And - like I said - when i played it sounded DOPE - I run out in front of the sound every couples minutes when i first come on so I can adjust the sound. I am very picky. Listen to my DJ mixes.
I use EQ's to equalize the frequencies between tracks - NOT to make it bassey or bright. And I never hit the "red" on my levels.

Some dj's think that the "redder" the better ! And then I'll come up and find the trebel all the way up, and the bass all the way up Fucking DUH !

Luke Envoy's topic is basic-ass info - if you don't know that shit already you shouldn't be playing on my soundystems.

And every dj that steps up sets his or her levels and eq's differently - i am constanctly runnning iup and telling people that they are distorting or shreddingly bright...but I am a one-man-army - i cannot do it all myself when I thow a party that large... I wanna have sum phun too

If you hear the sound is weird - come up and tell the sound guy (Justin), or find me (Lorin/Ripple).

Don't know whether to laugh or cry pon dis one... So happy that dubstep got a good rinse... Big Sur helped me ground myself and come back stronger to push things forward but I'm just gutted that I missed out.

Ripple - looking forward to meeting you at one of these jernts... all crews must "hands across america" this shit and bring factions and fractions together to give the sound the audience it deserves... bless up for the B.I.G. and Bassism inclusion.

Bigup Ripple man, holding down in SF, constantly seem to be bringing the goodness. I also heard some wicked story when you picked up 30hz & Baobinga (good mates of mine) after a gig and you were busting out an old dubstep mix of mine in the car - nice whan!

as yet i am yet to go to a Ripple/subscience/full melt that doesn't seriously impress me.
