Dubstep in your area...

is there a scene?

whats it like?

do people buy the stuff? is there a shop that stocks beats?

I'll start:

In west London there is hardly any scene - there is me, d1, soundproof, quiet storm heny g and a few other bods playin the game. I dont think there are any shops that stock the stuff either - its more breakbeat orientated - oh and broken beat.

Without rubbing it in people's faces, Bristol seems to be really running things, there's countless people I know and respect doing thier thing in Bristol. The biggest dubstep night being Subloaded and smaller nights pushing dubstep and alike with bigger nights and a lot of dnb nights doing it in the second room.

A couple of good record stores stock beats like Rooted and Eat the Beat.

Pinch, Thinking, Blazey, DubBoy and Gutterbreakz are the first names that pop into my head.

yeah, props to hungary! my mother is from budapest :)

here in switzerland there's plain nothing... no scene, no dj's playing this sound. and no shops with stock, so i just know this sound from countless heavy mixes (no money at the mo' for orders from boomkat).

even the heads who are deep in jungle/drum'n'bass just don't know what dubstep is all about - i was pretty disapointed when i found out.

sorry for my english...

All about Rooted for me. I popped in Eat the Beat earlier this week for a look around but they didn't have much there. To be fair, the guy has tried stocking dubstep in the past but it ain't sellin'.

Replay on Park Street has a very small dubstep section too.

Blatantly, Bristol doesn't really have a big night like that (Subloaded is more akin to DMZ), that pushes the more breaky stuff.

Fortunately a new night Noir is kicking off, should be good fun, but another night would be more than welcome!

Nick - Yeah to be honest I don't really go in to ETB, I know a couple of people who have bought the odd release in there. But I guess it is more known for dnb, breaks and hiphop. Rooted is the shit anyway, if not just for the staff :)

as far as i know i'm the only one regulary playing dubstep on parties in poland ;)
and as far as i know i'm the only polish dubstep producer 8)
no shops, no records, no scene
but people are more and more enthusiastic about the sound on the parties - especially girls

Eindhoven, Holland

theres not much of a scene hier, But I'm trying to do sumthing about that. 8)

theres a few hardcore fan's running around hier got 1 producer(and he's fliping good to,.. but there's no party's, radio's rather spin grime then dubstep.. & the grime Dj's only spin 1 or 2 dub's at raves

so U could say it's crap  but it's geting beter..

I'm trying to get a party goning but theres no dutch dubstep dj's so if any of you UK dj's wanna cum by spin sum dub's smoke sum of the best weed for not a lot of cash

Well over here in US there are pockets of the scene.
We all know the man like Joe Nice reppin Baltimore
Seckle is on the NewYork scene
Soul Champion crew out of Boston
Tha Megatron covering the west coast.

I think mostly there's the odd party/gig/radio going on there.

I'm between Boston and NY and have finally scored a monthly where I'll be playing along side local live acts like Psylab out of Boston and DJ's like DJ C from Mashit Records, again out of Boston.
I'm actually part of trying to set up a Low Power FM station here too - first legal pirate really - so as soon as thats up there will be a solid radio show.

It's happening, regardless of the size, that's the most important thing.

Big Up Everyone that's involved and pushing things fwd
