Yeah! I'm thinking about playing some Funk Carioca this weekend in the radio show!

nice one Bruno, turntablelab has a few bits as well if anyones looking out for these, the 12"s seem wierd to me somehow cos as far as I can tell all the Rio DJs play cdr or minidisc, but its good to able to get some of these beats in a format other than mp3. I've tried to find an online source for cds, but my portugese is non-existant (not sure I even got the spelled it right) & I gather the CDR sellers in the market at Rochina aren't on the E-bizz tip yet.

The Favela on Blast and Favela Strikes back mixes by Diplo are both great, if you can live without tracklistings.

Well what I can say is that they still very good friends, because they were here in July playing together, and they keep doing things together.

The dj sets by dj Marlboro are a bit crap, really cheesy stuff on those beats, if you could understand the lyrics!!!! Ho my god!!!!!

Diplo knows how to explore it without being cheesy. Saw him twice and both times were different but very good.

Diplo passed by the night we have in Lisboa "Dark Swing" and gave us a big "big up".

I played some Funk Carioca tracks sunday... They fell better in the mix than I ever imagined... Check the mix in the blog...

P.S. Nuno... In Portugal you can understand what the MCs speak... I really what to know what do you think about this... Hehehehehe...

saw him recently in nyc and can confirm that the mash-up shit is...well, shit. slightly hip-hop versions of 'going to the chapel' b2b with beatles rerubs and transformer visuals. school disco vibes. no ta.

i still love the Never Scared mixtape though generally I'm not too into the mashup genre.

The thing is yeah a lot of people are playing baile funk but he's the only one i know of to put out two whole compilations of the music with no names on it but his own. that's like a DJ from Japan making a DMZ mixtape with no tracklist or any mention of DMZ. Not really on, si mi?

he has spent quite a bit of time down there.
