Yeah i'm very new to producin dubstep.

Been mcing and producing bits of hip hop here and there. Using flstudio/protools/mpc 2000

But i've been wanting to get my setup running from my mac, so got a hold of Logic, got some VST's. problem is, i know how to load a plug in into protools, but have no idea how to do it with logic. Anyone with abit of experience explain this to me? or maybe i should just play around with it a bit more? i'm getting too wound up, maybe its cause i've been working all day.

anyway thanks in advance for anyone who feels like answerin

peace

You'll need a VST-AU adapter, FXPansion do a decent one.

Vst's Wont work with logic, You need something called an Audio unit or .Au This is logic's native plugin format, and almost every decent plugin/instrument you can get hold of comes in this format as well as vst's.

All I can say is that its a 'mac thing'. Im not dissing macs. I make all my music on one, but its just one of those things...

I am completely new as well but if you look to the left of the arrangement window and click you I/O and go down to other instruments, just under Ultrabeat you will get an arrow with a drop down and all your VSTS which are compatible will be under there

Probably wrong info but

right info, wrong terminology: they're audio units, not VSTs.

and to install them u need to drag them to : harddrive>library>audio>plug ins>components

then they'll show up in logic as described by teqh

but VSTs wont work without a wrapper, and i dont know how stable or cpu-heavy this is. never tried.

I use a vst to au wrapper for some synths with various results, some work seemlesly. Others are just blank, and some show correctly but dont do anything, so its pot luck really with an adapter (wrapper)
