heard some controversy about caspa's set last night, apparently during the silence of a wheel up someone shouted "WE WANT DUBSTEP" in response to the amount of mid range wobble they were hearing. your views i'd like to hear and if that was you with the badboy quote please explain lol

heard a few peeps round these parts say caspa and rusko 'aren't what dubstep is about', is it purely because of all the high end/mid range (though always supported by a sub)?...i think this is pretty rife in alot of dubstep anyway.

We left about 20 minutes into his set. The system was banging first half of the night, but it started going REALLY downhill the second half. What Caspa plays wasn't helping, ears were ringing big time today.

LMAO.

thing i find wid plastic people, is the mids and highs are a bit too loud at certain places as it is....so playin anything which focuses on mids and highs is gonna batter everyones ears lol. its almost as if the system is designed to boost mids and highs (that are a bit subtle) more than normal, so that the wedge bass comin out the sub doesnt drown it and so u get a more equal sound.

so to just be blunt and say "we want dubstep" is a bit harsh cos its the system that makes it worse in that case.

but ye ive noticed in the past year or so quite a lot of the dub police stuff has diverged a lot from the low bass end, which is what ppl use as a refrence when it comes to dubstep. fair enuf they were never makin beats that were proper minimal and sublow, but they did have sum decent low frequences a while back...

just listenin to a few older beats by caspa, like dub warz, big headed slags and way of the dub remix, and then listenin to dub police stuff generally now...u can see the difference. they shud make more stuff like that aswell, diversity is the key.

i think caspa n rusko are both good producers in a lot of aspects, its just a matter of sounds they use and rhythm they create with those sounds. would like to see MUCH more stuff along the lines of cockney violin, jahova, soundguy is my target.

my right ear is fucked. still ringin. hasnt been like that for years.

i remember inbetween the tunes there was that gap but cant remember if someone shouted that, think a few people shouted random stuff n made noises tho lol

yeh i havn't been a massive caspa fan, bit electroey for me. love cockney violin. still like the odd more recent tune tho.

yeah they are still doing some pretty good stuff these days, We I.E. remix in particular stands out, and from brief clips ive heard soulful geeza sounds quite good. They still got a fair amount of diversity there

Deep and minimal house type music I believe they play (or at least that is what I hear Jason H play on his show) - funky free zone.

i think the closest i've come to hearing progressive/minimal house in PP was when circle played a few months ago.

If you want to hear deep house at Plastic People you should know that Theo Parrish has a residency there first Saturday of every month.

why's everyone always being a dick.

At the end of the day if i went to a drum and bass rave and fabio was playing a liquid set i wouldn't shout
'WE WANT DRUM AND BASS' would i?
cos at the end of the day IT IS.
caspa has come a long fuckin' way- a journey we all like to try and make some day (record label, regular shows, putting tunes out basically LIVING THE DREAM)
people forget all the hard work that goes into music..even if ya don't like it.
i personally like all dubstep..different moods...different styles-yeah?

JUST DON'T CONFUSE YOUR OWN OPINION FOR FACT.

sorry for the rant but DUBSTEP IS NOT ANYONES 4 YEAR OLD CHILD THAT NEEDS CONSTANT MOTHERING IT IS IN IT'S OWN RIGHT ART,
AND PROGRESSION IS INEVITABLE.
