Selectadisc is in the city centre and has a good amount of everything, quite a lot of dubstep last time I was in there (fucking ages ago lol).

Funky Monkey is also city centreish and has a good little selection of stuff, the guys at the counter are helpful too.

My minds gone fucking blank on the name of the road but its a big one that goes up a hill out of the city centre and on that there's a couple of shops... one I've completely forgotten the name of but they've got a good sound system in there, real vinyl hustler on the counter too lol... and Anarchy records further up the hill has loads of second hand vinyl in the basement. It's completely uncategorised so you have to dig through it but there's some good stuff in there for dirt cheap.

Funky monkeys located on hockley, bout 5 mins walk from town centre.

Best off buying records off the net these days, especially chem records, funky monkey didnt have a great selection of dubstep when i went in the other week.

I was down there on a training course a few weeks back and picked up a few nice tunes from Selectadisc.

Funky Monkey seemed alright too although I didn't buy anything... had loads of 2nd hand Bassline stuff and the guy behind the counter said he had around 250 more to put out so to check back.

Worth asking if that's what your into.

To add to the above if you're looking for a record buying experience like you've never had before check out Rob's Records, its round the corner from Selectadisc up a small alley next to Southern Fried Chicken. You almost deffinately won't find any Dubstep, but you will buy something and have a laugh while you're at it.

there are a few places for dubstep.

Oh My Gosh
Funky Monkey
Selectadisc

if you have time, goto Anarchy and Auntie Christines on mansfield road.

its a family business, friends of mine, really good chaps.

i have found all sorts

tonnes of MJ Cole, pretty much every garage track that you would ever remmeber all the way back to Speed Garage, dubstep white labels, rare proto dubstep a la Zed Bias..

shit loads of DNB i dont even know where to start, basically a bit of everything but you will need to route through

tell em Joe sent you!

Its a vicious circle - people stop going to the shops, the shops then have less stock, internet shops then seem to have more choice, people start complaining about how crap the shops are.....later....no record shops left ! Just like how it seems to be in towns in America.

Support your shops folks !

i agree, i do buy alot off the internet ...but i go to shops on regular, in notts and some in birmingham aswell, i enjoy it more, going to the shops and listening to bare vinyls all day
but yeh there was groove city / rep uk but like geiom said...they closed down and gone onto the net, there was also mushi mushi records, but that has gone...all thats left really is selectadisc, oh my gosh and funky monkey
