Post by marsyas » Wed Aug 23, 2006 3:26 am

anyone know a good emulator, or have any good ways of getting a sound similar to an sp-1200?

12 bit 22khz
i think alot of it had to do with the filter?

i know there has to be something out there !!!

any tricks or products or anything would be greatly appreciated.

There's a discussion here http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 3&start=15

and they recommend using this http://www.kvraudio.com/get/1345.html over the top of your drums to get that old, school, hip-hop sound. I checked the site though and the link seems to have disappeared. Might be worth asking around other production sites to see if anyone can get you a copy.

Having checked a bit further found this http://www.illmuzik.com/forums/archive/ ... 13514.html

which the guy seems to think is pretty close to the sound (and he's a hip-hop guy so he'd probably know). Looks like it might be a bit glitchy though, so test it out and see how it goes.

Wierdly I got a sample pack of an SP1200, but this seems rather pointless seeing as it's a sampler anyway.

Hope that's of some use
Hmm....

i use it more than regularly inside renoise on drums (but sometimes also on synths), you've got the lofimat (it's a native effect) in there.. most of the time i set the quality slider to about 90% and bits to 12, so it sounds a bit more crunchy without too much aliasing.
