I don't like Vista because my laptop isn't good running it.
Neither is my cousins. Or my friends.
I liked XP.

it takes a fair bit of tweaking
and if you've got a 'Vista Capable' or 'Vista Basic' sticker on your machine then you'd be better off with xp

vista is ace. Give it a few years and then everyone will see the true potential of it. Looks a sack of shit. Windows 98 each and every.

I'm actually really pleased with my Vista 64bit OS.
It's never fully crashed on me, never frozen up, BSOD, anything like that. Once you learn to customise it a bit and get rid of all the silly user account control shite it works really well.
I'v had it maybe 8 months or so now and I wouldn't go back to XP.
As for compatability - I've got every program to run on Vista that i'v tried, including Deus Ex which was released in 2000.

Id be interested in knowing if anyone has ever had a virus on their vista machine? They seem to be very very rare.
I have not seen one in my line of work as a anti-virus analyst.

yeah vista is a fucking joke. seriously.
its the most unstable operating system i've ever used. backwards compatibility is crucial to me, i play a lot of old games and stuff, but 64 bit vista won't run half the shit i want it to. it'll run age of empires 2, but it won't run red alert 2...etc etc
WHY does it need 1GB of ram to do NOTHING? WHY?

Dude i've got RA2 working on 64bit Vista no problems.
Knights of the Old Republic was the hardist thing to get working for me, but I got there in the end. Occasionally shits itself during play but the OS itself never crashes.
Google is your friend.

vista's sick, apart from the security alerts for everything, upgrading to the 64 bit, when my rig is sorted.

Alot of things changed, prefer xp personally.
And there was about 8 different versions of vista in the beginning lol.
end of 2009 for the next version, think its going to be called windows 7

vista is just shite for programmes designed for xp and cracked programmes, in a year or two when compatibility is sorted it should be a lot more efficient than xp.
