Do you like Xmas?!

Post by raposanegra » Wed Dec 24, 2008 3:59 pm

Just wondering if it's just me but... I don't like Xmas anymore...

it stresses the people, make you spend a lot of money and I even don't believe in God...

shouldn't we be nice to people everyday? What's being nice to people for you? Give them presents just because they are going to give to you and you don't want to feel bad for not giving them?

Well I really think it's a stupid celebration...

on the surface i guess i dont have a problem with xmas...tomorrow i am meeting my family for prime rib & wassle. And my girl is getting a Wii from her fam this year so im looking forward to playing one finally. I also like how my whole town empties out cus all the university kids leave for home for two weeks.

Aside from the positive...Dec 25th is not jesus' birthday. sorry...it never was. He wasnt even born in the winter! December 25th is a Pagan holiday and i wish all the fucking tv commercials would stop talking about the birth of christ & using that as a good reason to buy diamonds & sports cars. Even if i was christian i think i would easily see thru this commercialized shite. Learn your history and be a good person every day of the year, then celebrate anything you feel like but with knowledge of what you are really celebrating!

Yes and No

No because of all the bollocks, the pressure, the same fucking tunes playing over and over everywhere you go all month long, the insesent advertising that starts in October, the mad rush everbody gets in, funny the amount grumpy "merry chistmas" I got today, everyone saying it through gritted teeth.

not religious but then its not a religious festival so that doesn't bother me. What does bother me is the amount of pure crap that is produced and sold then likely binned come new year. If people could wake up from this "I have to get everyone a gift" mentality and just enjoy the day with each other then I would love it.

Yes, of course you should be nice to people everyday. But that's no reason to turn your nose up at a festival that's actively encouraging it, is it?

I don't buy people presents because I feel obliged to, I buy them because it's an opportunity to make someone briefly happy by giving them a material gift that I couldn't afford to buy every day of the year. It's actually enjoyable making people a little bit happy. Might seem stupid to you but I fucking love it

exactly this, well i don't have a job at the min, but i spent what i could afford avarage of £10 per person n up to £20 for the kids, n it is nice to make some1 a little happy, or even a smile. if i ever have kids i will love buying em nice things n seeing their face light up, n if i cant afford it then i would make sure my kids know they are loved n have a nice family time which is alot more then some poor fuckers in them 3rd world contrys get. The laptop i am on now was an early xmas pres from my mum n dad n when i saw it i was well happy coz i had never even had a brand new pc/laptop b4. So i guess that made mother n pops happy too. I know peps feel preasure especialy with advertising n feel they have to buy for some1 coz they boought you n all the stress n that, but if ya cant afford even a small box of chocs even a single beer explain n if its a friend of fam they will understand, n if they don't then fuck em. For any1 who dis likes xmas or feels really stressed all i can say is its only a day, or a week if ya count xmas eve boxing day n that n if you are with loved 1s might aswell try n enjoy it. Coz its the 1` time of year that nearly every1 is off work and can do so. The thread was a poll if my stoner mind remembers correctly like xmas or not, well i like it. Was loads better as a kid but i mean thats prob the same with every1.
Bless up to all for 2 :P :P 9 merry xmas to all

I see your point there.I don't buy or ask for gifts at Xmas.I think ANY other day of the year is better, simply because of the fact that we are obliged at Xmas.If someone gives me a pressie at Xmas,it doesn't feel quite as special as when someone gives me one on June 21st "just because".

Everyone has to think of everyone at Christmas. That's part of Santa/Satan/Baby Jesus' 10 Commandments of Christmas. But what about the rest of the year?I think it's better to think of people all year round then waiting 'til once a year to get together and have everyone sit at a table being as fake as possible.
