Can anyone advise me about which speakers to buy (around the £300 mark). Mainly for bedroom DJ use/just starting to think about production. I quite like what i've heard about the krk rockit 6, though some people think i'd need a sub as well? :?:

i got krk rokit 8's, awesome, but i'd recommend a sub no matter what you get, it's very helpful

but go to a store and give a bunch of different monitors a listen...bring a track you know pretty well and listen for the differences on each i'd say. then make a decision from there.

rokit's are really good for the money. If you get a sub, be careful about the mix, sometimes you can think there's too much or too little bass, and it won't sound right through another rig- always try to listen to it through different set ups

go for KRK...they just seem really good value at the moment, giving the rest of the bigger name brands a run for their money...i have mackies..the older 624's and thier great but quite hard to mix on, ive only just started to get the feel for them...i need a sub tho, but not the mackie sub...£1000 is way too much for me, if any one has any suggestions on subs link me up!!!

Blue sky do some really nice stuff for quite good money

I've only heard the blue sky 2.1 system, which has a different model sub on it, but it sounded really good

they have a 5.1 blue sky system at my uni which is really good, really clear and you get a great sense of the mix and placement

my house mate has adam a7's which are also quite nice, great stereo field good rounded, proportionate bass, if a little hyped on the top

KRKs my friend has rp5s and I haven't heard any others apart from them but i've heard nothing but good things about them!

id suggest only getting a sub if your room is acoustically treated!
