if you want a pure uncolored sub bass sound like that you just need to use a pure Sine wave, maybe a little bit of overdrive, and no EQ nessecary

omg he has totally taken DBX (Dan Bells) tune and added a few bits.

Original is a classic and 100x better.

Take out all unnecessary high and mid frequencies and add a tiny bit on the low end.

Try combining sine waves with different EQs and slight chorus effects - sounds nuts but it can give good results

I can't see, why one would EQ a pure sine wave, adjusting the volume would do just the same thing...

Adjusting the volume is the same as EQing?

I cannot see how turning the volume down is the same as EQing.

A sine wave is a pure tone - it doesn't have any harmonics. So you can't reduce or amplify "parts" of the sound.... you either alter the whole sound or nothing at all (i.e. your EQing was done at the frequency of your sine wave or it wasn't).

If you've got more than one sine layered or you're using more complex waveforms (Saws, Squares etc), then EQing starts to become effective in its own right because your sound consists of more than one constant tone.

It follows that if EQing is having a markedly different effect to adjusting the level of the sine wave in the mix, then you're not using a pure sine wave.... just a half-decent approximation. I find the sines in Massive really difficult to work with for this reason...

yer same with subtractor.....you should be able to leave the filter at any position bcos its a sine so no filter is needed, but u have to have it all the way at the bottom to "make" it into a sine. That kontrol tune aint juss a single sine....its too gritty n im on ipod headfones and wouldn't b able to hear it as clear as i can.

thanks magma.

As beez says, the subtraktor needs the filter all the way down. So does mean the subtraktor is not as good as I thought for sine/sub ?

Sounds like it, yeah... I've been using Subfreak (http://www.remixsoft.com/download/subfreak.html) lately, which seems pretty decent, but it'd be great to hear what other people are using....

leave space at the bottom end of the spectrum for it-- hipass everything else. choose a kick sound that's got enough punch, but not too much going on underneath that punch.

magma's dead on about the sine-wave eq'ing-- just depends on how 'pure' the sine is.

if certain notes jump out and certain ones feel lost, it's a function of your listening environment. move around your speakers.

adding a bit of heft somewhere between 30-60hz can change the character into something more militant... or it might not really do anything. again, depends on the source of the sine.

Think I had a go on that a while ago.

Is it only for sub? can you modulate it etc
