Urban Decay

Many dubstep artists have said they have been inspired by urban decay and i think this is evident in many artists work.
I am an art student and Looking at urban decay and am also a fan of dubstep and would like to include some information on how urban decay and dubstep are influencing each other. I am struggling to find any literature connecting the two.
Urban decay is a process by which a city, or a part of a city, falls into a state of disrepair. It is characterized by depopulation, economic restructuring, property abandonment, high unemployment, fragmented families, political disenfranchisement, crime, and desolate and unfriendly urban landscapes.
There is no single cause of urban decay, though it may be triggered by a combination of interrelated factors, including urban planning decisions, poverty, the development of freeways and railway lines,[3] suburbanisation, redlining,[4] immigration restrictions,[5] and racial discrimination. (wiki)
What is enjoyable about dubstep inspired by urban decay?
I would assume something built on crime, desolation and poverty etc would not be very enjoyable to listen too.
Is it something we can relate too?
Is dubstep having a possitive impact on urban decay?
Hip Hop has claimed to bring people together, it addresses important issues, graffiti has brought a new dimention to art and politics and given the powerless a voice, breakdancing is pysically demanding and creative and rap and beatboxing allows anybody to be musically creative. All these parts or hip hop have possitive impacts on urban decaying areas.
"the track is so empty it makes [the listener] nervous, and you almost fill in the double time yourself, physically, to compensate" a comment by kode9 on MRK1 - Why do we enjoy feeling nervous?
