the longer I've had this program the shitier it seems to run. Can't even get near half way through a tune without it crashing or making a disturbing noise through my left speaker. Any1 else experienced this? If so let me know what to do coz I don't want 2 loose all my beats!

When your system stability is declining it is wise to backup all your audio and cubase projects or be prepared to loose them.
General rules for good performance are to defrag your drives, not have them too full, keep an eye on how performace is affected by installing new plugins or hardware (or software updates?). And remember what settings you change in cubase.
Also good to back up your system files with accessories> systemtools> backup so you can restore it to a previously stable configuration (that's the theory!)
BUT! (and i could be wrong)
Been doing a lot of file sharing? (Kazaar)
Got no virus protection?
Use Internet Explorer?
Using cracked software?
If the answer to any of these is yes - i'd bet you've been violated. Viruses can be very very hard to get rid of, they're really smart. I'd recomend a new hard disk and start completely from scratch install things slowly. I've seen this before and this is the only way. I've seen systems get worse and worse and worse.... and meltdown.
Use AVG free antivirus.
Use free Mozilla Firefox instead of Internet Explorer
There's tons of free software that will tell you what viruses you've got on your system, might be a starting point.
Did you know some crack software installers have viuses hidden in them? Most viruses require Internet Explorer to work?
Part of the reason i went Mac. Maybe someone more PC might be able to help you with the specifics. Hope that helps sorry if i told u stuff you already know. Let us know how you get on.

				Yeah good advice there.
Ideally you should have *nothing* on your music making machine other than music making software and a second partition/HDD for storing all your songs on.
A good solution if you cant afford 2 computers (one for internet etc & one for music) is to have a partitioned primary HDD dual boot set up. So you effectively have Windows installed twice. So when you want to download music etc and other web research (looking at porn) then you boot into one partition, then if you're wanting to write music you use the other.

two choices.. buy a MAC or if u use PC use it only for music production. dont install any un-neseccary programs such as kazaa etc. disable on-board soundcard, disable network driver and dont install NORTON antivirus or any antivirus programs, disable cpu-power-save (or whatever it's called / power management). and remember to DEFRAG HD's alot.
these helps a lot, so you dont need to repair your windows register file or install whole windows again.

I think two PC's or a dual boot system is too impractical for most.
?? Best for solution for most PC users...
1. Mozilla (NEVER Internet Explorer)
2. AVG
3. Minimum cracks (Bit Torrent sytle only)
4. Update
5. Backup
6. DeFrag / not too full
7. Configure OS (good one r33lc4sh, forgot to mention that)
8. One external drive, equal in size to all internal drives, for easily backing-up everything at once.

o rly? you can pick up a 1.2ghz pc and crt monitor for about £50 that'll do you for internet it works fine for me
it'll save you having to replace your studio pc when you go on the wrong porn site
think about it is £50 really that much?
