Doesn't matter if it's a bit shit - and I dunno about that yet, it has it's charms - point is it's two of the biggest artists in the WORLD doing a dubstep track.

It's more dubstep than any other US urban record I've ever heard.

And give it time. Pharrell can do things that sound pretty shonky at first - e.g. most of his drum and instrument sounds are just keyboard presets - but they grow on you like a rash.

i think the tune is a step in the right direction for the US rap game, that is for sure.

at the same time, Pharrell is way better than this monotonous beat.

someone get Weezy and Bun B some Joker and MRK1 beats.

i never said it was shit but given what he has done in the past that is far from being one of his better tracks. it is good him see him pushing some boundries tho'

musically, us urban music could be heading for some changes...

Nothing wrong with presets, and the amount of dubstep people who have sampled those same presets he uses is pretty high. He's been on it for a while I think check this Zombyish one (also brilliant):

Been saying this for ages too - Joker is THE first UK producer to get the southern bounce in his beats (but still keep a British attitude to it) IMO.

2009 is looking good for genre fusion. Mongrel Music FTW :P

not much to it in my opinion, quite a weak bassline as far as most underground dance music goes and it really doesn't go ANYWHERE.

but i get what you're saying, big up :)

This is from last year too

The bass he uses sounds more like d&b than dubstep to me, and I think it's done well. The more sub in 'pop' music the better in my opinion. Pharrell is one of the best producers about, just a shame he's not doing the Clipse album, they would some ultra grimey on this sort of beat.
