I've got a mate that just moved to London yesterday, I was originally supposed to be in the UK by this time married and such (pfft!) and able to show her around and get her sorted.. BUT i'm not.

Are any of you lot free to help me help her? She's freaking out about finding a flat now, as well as a cell phone. I can help with the cell part, the flat not so much.

Any help is much appreciated and worth a few pints for sure - if you're about please hit me up on MSN.

Thanks :)

Second that- bit of persistence (ok, a lot of persistence) and you really will find something decent. I just found the best place i ever lived in through one of these (can't remember which though! Gumtree is more user friendly I reckon)

Thing is you gotta be able to act FAST- the decent houses seriously go within a day or so of gong up for viewing (so cheeky blags off work are a necessity to avoid dissapointment!)

thank all the gods that i'm finally moved and got a very nice place.

tell her to avoid estate agents at all costs- they are scum they really are.

luke's recommendations are the ones to watch. although only ring the ones on loot if they are fresh online - otherwise they are likely to have gone.

further advice kinda depends on where and type of proprty. one bed flat or flat share etc.

best of luck to her (and you luke)

already linked her to gumtree - shes viewing a flat right now i believe - yay!

trying to get her out to dmz on saturday night - reckon there'd be loads of friendly people n such - not her cuppa as far as the music goes, but i know she wants to meet people n i feel better sending her to dmz than i do to some dnb or hip hop night ya know?

thanks for the advice - i'll pass on the loot link :D

I'm moving out so we have a (nice) spare room here.

Upside: its 5 minutes walk from the mighty DMZ

Downside: one of my housemates is a trancemonkey.

PM if interested.

Innit.

try hotproperty.com , not so much for the places you'll find on there cos most of them will be gone, but its good for finding estate aagents thaat represent the area's you wanna move too.

the best thing for her to do is too just take a day off work aand session it, get esstate agents to show her all there properties and when she likes one, snap it up immediately, cos if she dont someone else will

luke.envoy - (incase you aint your pm's yet, its duncan from college)
