Need help!

Post by phillyb » Thu Jan 15, 2009 9:52 pm

so i've been listening to dubstep for quite some time. I was up to date for a little while. But lately, i've been falling behind, and am getting tired of the same old distance skream benga and plastician tunes. I need something new. Who do you guys think us up and coming so far this year? I need to know some new names man please save my music selection!

Plenty of incredible dubstep productions from Bristol, both upcoming and already established; Joker, Gemmy, RSD, Appleblim, Pinch, Headhunter
Anything on the Hyperdub label (such as Ikonika, Darkstar, Zomby etc).
If you like more grime/dancehall influenced you might like The Bug's dubstep albums.
One of my favorites at the moment is Starkey's album.

If all you're listening to is distance, skream, benga and plastician your missing a huge amount of incredible dubstep, but its hard to give recommendations when theres so much stuff out there. What kind of dubstep do you enjoy?

i've always liked benga's sound in particular because he's mastered the triplet sound mixed with bass. I also like a lot of the hard stuff like koan sound, which is just pure bass construction. Stuff like hyperdub has never really done it for me, but i do enjoy some zomby. I really appreciate it guys you've opened up some new stuff.
