Post by fubar » Thu Aug 31, 2006 9:36 pm

So im getting some Behringer truth B2031A montiors with a sub, I dont have a huge amount of space and I was wondering what people think is the minimum distance (from each other and you) they can be before its getting too close, and any tips on the ideal placement of the sub aswell would be really helpful thankingyou  fubar

Alright!

The manual should tell you the optimum setup for your speakers - it can be found here http://www.behringer.com/B2031A/index.cfm?lang=ENG

Speaker placement pretty much depends on the acoustics of your room. Generally speaking the distance between speakers should be the same as the distance between each speaker and your ears. Your listening position should be in the middle of both speakers. The speakers should be at ear level. Personally I wouldnt have the speakers closer than a metre and a half.

Sub placement is a bit of a bugger to get right. You can't really tell what direction bass signals are coming from so in that respect you can place it pretty much anywhere in the room. However, if it's too close to a corner you'll end up with an artificially loud bass. Also you may experience phase problems when the sub is placed in certain positions in the room. It's all about moving the thing around until you get a good sound. Again the manual should make things easier.

i have exact the same nearfield monitors. to me optimal setup is that monitors are about 2 meters away from me and atleast one meter away from the wall. and bass-element is about same level than your shoulders. there are switches in back ( bass reduction / hi-frequences reduction / room compensation ), but these dont help much if you dont set ur monitors right. manual is pretty good, it's help you to set it right.

and dont under-estimate acustics!!! it's one of the most important things.
