Hey I thought I'd post a tutorial on my blog since this is something I see done improperly all the time. Too much weight causes un-due wear on your vinyl.
Anyways check it out

I once played a gig and the idiots that designed the club rested the stage on subs directly underneath where the turntables were
quarters wouldn't help

I've just watched the tutorial and couldn't help but PMSL, that guy's a bloody mong! Check out some of his other tutorials for rofling good times.
His hearts in the right place, but it highlights how little knowledge can be more harmful than none at all.
Here's his channel

Sorry if I'm being a bit harsh, but the guy makes me LOL so much it's untrue.
Bless his cottons.

If he's doing it wrong, could you please explain (or link me to) the right procedure?
Thanks.

I've been DJing for over 12 years now and this is still something I've never been able to get right. A good tutorial would very much be appreciated. One on wiring up cartridges to headshells would also be useful.
It's either too heavy and grates against the vinyl or it's too light to hold the groove!

this is useful and clearly explained.
This guy's good- I watched his tutorial on running a club night and he knows what he's doing.

Sarcasm, I <3 it!
His explanaition of folded horn bass cabinet is incredible
The correct technical terminology flies out of the window in favour of whatever he seems to fit best, free style technician = dangerous.
He's essentialy setting it up reasonably right, it's just the execution that makes me LOL.
After encountering a few of his 'tutorials' here and there I await the next ones with baited breath and a half cocked smile in anticipation of such sublime mong.
