Would I be retarded if I asked where the bass cone was?

Fostex single driver set up, quite big in the valve powered hifi circles.
The driver is a full freq one and coupled with the correct cabinet design should act as a horn with maybe some space for a standing wave to amplify the bass frequencies. They apparantly sound much cleaner, and more 'natural' than 2-way/3-way set ups because of the lack of distortion through combfiltering etc between the different drivers and their crossovers.
I like the idea of them and would like to build one, but until I move back somewhere with a garage, my kitchen ain't becoming a work shop anytmie soon.

yea, with this setup, you have a separate subwoofer, stick it under your chair, and shake off that extra fat you've been collecting all winter.

I'm assuming that the enclosure is that size to meet the air requirements of the speaker? The workmanship looks fantastic.

very cool, we have something in common, my dad used to build speakers to. he built all the stuff for the shadows and some of the first tape echo units.

yea, it's all about air flow through this thing. There's 2 enclosures inside, with 2 rounds circles cut into the wall in the middle. Let me see if I can find the scamatics.

My dad built 7ft horn speakers, took 2 months to build/bend the wood, and sold for £8,100 a pair. Made What Hi-Fi cover page. But business didn't take off. Shame
Still have them in my parents house, but they are now skint as fook and have to sell their house

christ those things are nuts, never seen ones like that before. Is he gonna sell em?

I like this thread. I am a carpenter and have enough woodworking tools to go around. Unfortunately I have to do everything outside at my house but I would like to start a little project. I need to make a set of speaks to match this old subwoofer I found on a job.
Hit has a 15" driver in it. Weights like 200 pounds. Looks even better IRL though.
