cant begin to describe how epic that night was.....

was def one of THE BIGGEST dubstep events to go down in LA so far (and we're pretty damn spoiled as it is.....lol)

thank you so much once again to everyone involved in pulling off such an amazing night for electronic music in Los Angeles

OK, first off, REGAL D's photos are simply amazing!!!

Now, for me personally - I found out about CASPA at the end of 2008 and did a little research and found that he would be coming to the USA for what I think may be the first time and hitting LA at the first of the year. After making a dubstep playlist filled with CASPA and others on my youtube page, I got rather excited. I use to be deep into car audio scene and CASPA inspired me to want to throw a system up in the ride again! Yea, that serious, and I even called a friend that night after work after collecting the CASPA songs that day. I told him about this music and how I wanted a system and how I wanted come go check it out live. HELLO SMOG - HERE WE COME!

I have not been this inspired since 1996 in Miami seeing Goldie/Metalheadz for the first time. [Thank you Raymond Roker/URB].

OK, so JAN 24th rolls around, I'm sick as a dawg, but I want to go and GO WE DID! We came, we saw and we went home HAPPY - PAWN, NICK ARGON, CASPA, PABLO HASSAN - KILLED IT!!! Sorry other dudes on the roster as I did not get there early enough, nor stay late enough... But I got my fair share and we were not let down in any way!

So, here are my images:

911 Hill Street, Los Angeles, CA.

Image
When we roll in, we where impressed as there where door-men dressed to the nines in black suits. Yes, a secured-warehouse, but up-scaled door-men. I personally was impressed. Nice touch! Noticed the hand clicker counter and had to ask. 200 persons had already passed through, and would hold about 500-persons at capacity. NICE! And filled to capacity it did!!!

Image
Some things never change... black-lights-on-day-glow....

Image
Nice tall ceilings, looks like a recent re-gut and the recession hit and valuable property sitting, why yes we will rent you space!!!

Image
Image
Gotta'check out the dubstep art flavor...

Image
I got there when PAWN was on deck. I liked his flow, his style and he wasn't cocky. Seemed to have fun on the decks and crowd was moving. What more can you ask for? I will come back to hear more from PAWN!

Image
PAWN - headphone check, 1 -2, 1-2, smoove'moves and in the groove..

Image
PAWN ALL IN

Image
PAWN STRIKES BACK

Image
PAWN - you, you and you - GOING DOOOOOOOWN with the BASS BOMB BEAT DOWN!!!

Image
PAWN - unusual in movement. Unlike all the other pieces, pawns may not move backwards. Normally a pawn moves by advancing a single square, but the first time each pawn is moved from its initial position, it has the option to advance two squares. Pawns may not use the initial two-square advance to jump over an occupied square, or to capture. Any piece directly in front of a pawn, friend or foe, blocks its advance.

NEXT ON DECKS:
Image
NICK ARGON

Image
NICK ARGON was good to listen to - even the MC thought so too! Listen, listen... listen to this!

Image
NICK ARGON had the floor packed. Flashed hard to protect the innocent - for the good of the children.

Image
NICK ARGON - must come from a family of industrial welders as held melded some great pieces of music from all over the map together, into one strong set!!! He too was very impressive and perfect lead up to...

MOTHERFLIPFLOPPIN-CASPA!!!!
Image
CASPA - Watcha'boys and girls got going on here? No worries, CASPA is up in HERE!!!

Image
CASPA came and CASPA DROPPED IT!! PEEKED IT! And practically WRECKED the TURBOSOUND system - but it never barked!

Image
CASPA SIMPLY CAME - DELIVERED - KILLED IT!!!

Image
CASPA weaved beats that dropped 40-Hertz BOMBS!!!

Image
CASPA - BLURRED VISION - BLURRED EARS - BLURRED BRAINS!!!

Image
CAN YOU HEAR ME BACK THERE?

Image
CAN YOU FEEL ME BACK THERE?

Image
CASPA UNLEASHED MORE.. as his white-hot aura flashes across the frame...

Image
Is this REGAL D [photographer] with the Superlative Conspiracy shirt on?

Image
CASPA TWEAKING THE SIGNAL - RESHAPING THE WAVE.

Image
CASPA unleashed what seemed like a straight-hour of BASS IN YOUR FACE!!

Image
CASPA is not one to let the set cool down...

Image
CASPA RAISED THE HEAT!!!

Image
CASPA lettin' two fly!

Image
CASPA has a posse, rowdy stage posse - makin' needles jump!

Image
We will be right back after station identification. CASPA!

Image
CASPA deep in the groove.

PABLO HASSAN - Assassin on the decks!

SORRY PABLO HASSAN - I took the BASSwaveBEATdown and must drive back down to my side of town... way down to the OC side of the DTLA-multi-connected neighborhood-cosmo.

I can't say enough about the SMOG LA show on Jan 24th, 2009. I am still reverberating. The show was beyond epic. Everyone DJ slaughtered, and Caspa absolutely ripped the place apart relentlesly. I literally got tore down by his beats . . . and, I couldn't believe how it just seemed to destroy with no end in sight. It was more than I could handle. Absolutely amazing performance. I was stunned. Big up to all the DJ's, the good vibe in the crowd and SMOG for putting on a show that set off 2009 right. SMOG, please do this again soon.

Here's a link to my photos from that night:
