Been checking for him ever since I heard Rude Effort. The set he did on MAH last week was fucking astounding, def copping the album when it drops.

"21st Century Schizoid Man" as a beat. This motherfucker is a genius.

I like his flirtations with that sorta Tangerine Dream vibe.

its a good beat, but how is he a genius for sampling the most well known song by one of the most well known prog rock groups?

Because, purely and simply, nobody else thought of that first.

Besides, I tend to think King Crimson is the least known of the well-known groups. They may be more renown than Camel or something, but there are more Floyd, Yes, Rush fans out there...

If the beat is good, and uses ideas nobody has come up with? Then yes.

Because plenty of people keep thinking "Impeach The President" doesn't result in Aaron Fuchs suing them. And every time some backpacker thinks he's being hip-hop, he's actually opening himself up for lawsuit.

Even the most obvious pick of King Crimson's batch is actually BEYOND the normal brainwaves of hip-hop.

the point with beats really is not what you're flipping, it's how you flip it

plenty of people done the crimson thing, but paul plays it at 45 and chops the fuck out of it..

it's also for jokes man, he's all about the humour.. some things can be funny and dope at the same time

9th wonder speeds up soul samples and chops the fuck out of them. he's considered a great producer, not really a genius.

maybe i'm just salty i flip a lot of prog samples (shameless plug: check my free beat tape) and no one calls me a genius, lol.

Well, congrats, you're the 1st genius.

9th Wonder is a joke. His drums are like wet cardboard. Another cheap, disposable Premo/Pete Rock clone.

 waaah 9th wonder uses the same snare on every beat waaaahh *dream merchant volume 2 comes out* waaaahhh 9th wonders drums are wack now boohoo

of all producers to call a "joke" why pick 9th? pick some asshole making tons of money off shitty beats like drumma boy or just blaze or kanye

Beatnick came with the exact answer; it's how it's flipped not due to the sample they flipped. As for 9th Wonder, there is no denying that he has made great beats - Dream Merchant 2 was in my opinion a great album, beat wise. Furthermore, Just Blaze a shit producer, neveeeeeeeer. Drumma boy maybe, but he has had some bangers I kinda have a thing for what I call ignorant southern beats, but as for shit producers making a load of cash...Scott Storch. He used to be a 'genius' if you will, but wow fallen off.
