I noticed something in my Itune preferences that had a check box saying, "filter frequencies below 10hz" and was curious as to how low Dubstep frequencies can get (generally speaking)?

I'm pretty sure you can't hear below 20.

i would say they dnt generally go below 30Hz

yes but those frequencies can still affect how the audible frequencies come across, hence the "low cut" function in some equalizers..

I really want someone to produce a track with a sub-15hz bassline so that at some point the drums could drop out and what you'd be left with is almost dead silence, speakers still physically going nuts and your stomach rumbling.

I hear an 8hz sinewave can make a whole room of dubstep producers simultaneously stroke their beards.

Lots of tunes have proper 20Hz bizniz going on, doesn't get much lower than that though I think. I think very very few rigs can put out any lower.

Check the frequency analyser yo!

very few rigs can get that low. most rigs are good for about F1 which is 43Hz. If you use a lower note than that in a tune then you're gonna have problems where sometimes (often) the bass just isn't reproduced, so it sounds like the tune has no sub at all!

yes. thats probably the lowest note ive heard (or at least taken notce of) in a dubstep track. around 32 hz.

theyre not usually fundamental notes though, theyre usually either rumble or undertones of other sounds, yes they might be there, but if you took em out 99% of people wouldnt notice, and even that 1% would have a hard time telling.

eveyone should be issued a test tone cd just to let people know how low sub-30hz notes are.

defo, and that tune is some fukrey

we run subs that hit 27hz in groups of 4, your not gonna find many subs that will go any lower than with any real SPL other than LAB's, Void stasys X, maybe F1 infrabass with infrahorn, or something along those lines.....(read major ££££) i usually set my filters @ 32hz just to give the driver a bit of an easier time, there's not much going on down that low other than deck rumble anyway.

seems like a bit of a waste of headroom putting frequencies onto a tune when they wont be reproduced, or not in the way the producer intended anyway. there are hardly any systems capable of going that low, lots of driver flapping, but no real output.

This isn't good news - I've got a tune coming out on urban scrumping where some of the notes hit 27Hz

Will they not come out over rigs?
