Sine Waves - what's the best VST for generating them?

As stated in title.

What's the cleanest, truest, most accurate sine wave generating VST available today?

Freeware and/or payware, and reasons behind choices if you please, thanks

Why do you need a "clean" sine wave? They sound bassier with harmonics.

And sinewaves are clean by definition. It's the cleanest, purest waveform there is.

Yes granted, but I'd read somewhere that not every VST was capable of generating an exact precise sine wave, more a rough approximation of one, so I threw this out there to hopefully quench my curiosity on the subject. Any information welcomed with open ears...

generate one in wavelab/soundforge/(i assume) audacity.

Be about as clean as you get, pure mathmatical function, no envelopes, filters etc (even is fully open etc, may contribute).

I second this.

How does look pure mathematical sine in freq analyzer? Just a vertical line?

Is it right?

Yes, in an ideal world it would look like a line like that - in reality won't depending on the block size used by the analyser (it will look 'rounder' or wider).

3xOSC, I mean do you really need to waste more processing power and RAM for a bloody sine wave. Besides 3xOSC supports the slide function, which is awesome for instant brap.

x3

Also MDA Tone Generator

Audacity does have a tone generator, as does adobe audition.

:)

Seconded!

ive been using 3xOsc more and more every day, it saves me sooo much CPU, and i can get amazing leads out of it with proper EQ and processing, and then save the CPU for z3ta and massive and such when i need it

use in conjunction with THIS to generate notes ratherthan random tones.

if you wanted to be anal you could generate an octave or so and bung in sampler for 100% perfect (or as close as possible) pure sub :6:

And if you compressed each note to output at exactly the same volume, there would be none of those pesky 'one note in my bassline is louder then the rest' threads Image

Ahh, see now we're getting somewhere :5:

Disclaimer: Sorry if this seems a silly thread, I just felt like rattling your brains over sines, so thank you for not ripping me to shreds over this -w-

well since youre generating them theyll all be the same volume anyway. ImageImageImage
