recreate rusko albino patch

Post by moodee » Tue Feb 24, 2009 5:22 pm

if you watch the production masterclass with rusko, he switches on all 4 oscillators one after another. but even when he switches on just one oscillator, it sounds really gristly... how is it done? i don't want to replicate the rusko sound, just trying to understand it. anyone interested in trying to replicate that albino patch from the video and upping it?

thanks...

yeah, its probably about waveforms, basslines can be made with an VST but the reason Massive and Albino are so good for it is the waveforms

I would also guess that it's the waveforms. If you try them out, I'm sure you'll find one that sounds similar.

I watched this video again earlier, thing about that patch he has it different to the one shown in the mag which is a bit weird. but yeah just make sure you get 2 different kinds of wave form on each and blend em, on the analog wave mess with the sub osc setting, try saturation on the filters

one thing I wonder is, you can change the octave of each individual wave on each oscillator so if you pitch one at octave 1 and another at octave 0 could you in fact have the equivelant of 8 waves being played at different octaves?
I bet that would have a big sound, assuming taht it doesn't become a giant pile of mush

The patch hes uses is pretty simple. The reason why it still sounds fat with one oscilattor is probably coz he's still got all his fx running.

I found his tough to follow as well.

In his drums video it looked like he was internally re-sampling a bunch, but his bass video was super scattered.

Your right, I can't have an opinion until I have a page on Roll Da Beats.

Are you suggesting by that hard hitting post that you enjoy DJ Clipz's music and think he is a reputable producer of Drum & Bass?
