hullo

Post by skip-rat » Thu Sep 14, 2006 12:44 pm

Just popping in (may become a regular occurence), to say that not unlike Joe Derbyshire, discovering dubstep (via a Plasticman mix CDr eighteen months ago, then Burial's long player) has blown my socks off.

I'm a 36 year old music obsessive who has DJ'd everything from 60s garage punk to reggae with loads of other shit in between and just when I was giving up hope of hearing some new music which demonstrated that not everyone making music is hell bent on recreating the sound of 1980, up pops this stuff.

Hullo to everyone, massive respect to the artists and producers, I'll be back soon.

p.s. if anyone needs a sleeve/MP3 icon design, I may well be able to help...

p.p.s. I DJ'd for The Fall at 93 Feet East two nights back and played Loefah's Goatstare before they came on, it sounded fucking awesome.

Incredibly well.

I know Fall fans (like myself) are pretty open minded when it comes to music but don't suffer fakes or fools, but the looks I got, the vibe was extremely positive. My mate who said he hadn't heard a bass like it or a sound as fresh in years. The one guy who came and asked me what the tune was with an incredibly excited look in his eye suggests that the sound was well apprectiated, particulary as the set consisted of Zappa, Beefheart, Kraftwerk, Screaming Target, Lee Perry, Neu, Can, Northern Soul etc etc., and then the Loefah track.
