...my point is, for the non vinyl buying music enthusiast who gets to hear a tune on a good quality mix already blended into more quality trax is not going to make them hunt out the vinyl or want to buy the stand alone tune
as a promo tool for the DJ to get bookings it does nothing if he's in germany and i'm in NZ, about all it does is give a lookout for hot labels...
...if hi bit mixes by top DJ's were available online i'd pay a bit more for up front pre mixed tunes cos that's how i like it in my van or at home
i understand it's different if you're a DJ but the majority of the buying, listening public aren't and want pre mixed tunes, I reckon, not stand alone trax hence the always popular compilation CD...
...the problem still comes back to the ease of piracy and maybe a loss of revenue if the option to DL was available for less, then one wouldn't neccessarily buy the CD so a bit of cross format competition might ensue
however the lower costs online means less markup for retailers and distributors so it might all even out in the end...
