could anyone recommend better no frills experiences?

My mate went to Barcelona for a stag do last weekend, and RyanAir was the cheapest for them.

i think the earlier you book it the cheaper it is

ryanair seemed cheaper, just had a check...but the airport which they see as barcelona is Girona...which is 57 miles north of barcelona...(funnily barcelona is my destination)

most people flying to girona are heading for barcelona so a coach will be available, caoches are always pretty cheap in spain too.

ryanair does this for all flights... cheap but you pay in other ways. watch for the stings at the airport for luggage and online check in - make sure you do that

everytime i've flown cork to gatwick for the last 3 years it has never cost me more than €50 return. i love ryanair. sort of.

it's not exactly "the earlier you book it the cheaper it is". it starts with a price, then it drops down, and then it becomes expensive again as it's approaching the date of the flight. from my experience.. 2-3 months before the flight is the best time to buy your tix.

i just moved to the States and here you have websites like Orbitz offering you price assurance: if you pay a sum and someone buys the same ticket as you later but with a lower price, you get refunded the difference.

Do not fly with ryan air.

They are the cheapest but I used them for my trip to Marrakech a few weeks ago and they cancelled the flight due to, 'bad weather conditions'. It was a little bit foggy. And when they cancel the flight it says in their small print that they have no obligation to reschedule. And they didnt. So I had to pay another 130 quid for a ticket with easyjet.

Plus the 20/30 quid tickets are just the face value of the ticket. Theyre never that cheap after you add on the taxes and the baggage charges etc.

Flights prices are worked out at the time of booking based on how many seats are left, how close to departure it is, the time of the flight, time of year etc etc.... the only way to work out the best fare is to check with a few different airlines and just go with the best one. There's no real hard and fast rules to which one will definitely be cheapest.

When my mates and I flew to Munich in September, our cheapest fare was with BA... got a meal an'evryfin!

yes. orbitz is good. however my fav site is www.kayak.com. It basically searches through all those cheapflight search engines and through all the airlines webpages too.
