Aleister Crowley , later dubbed "The Wickedest Man In the World", spent his teenage years during the 1880s in Streatham at a house opposite the present ice rink.
Drum and Bass DJ Grooverider is from Streatham as are the first Mayor of London and former head of the GLC Ken Livingstone and super model Naomi Campbell.
Cynthia Payne was a renowned "madam" who made the headlines in the 1970s and 1980s with her brothel in Ambleside Avenue, Streatham.
Afghan warlord Zardad Khan lived in Gleneagle Road, Streatham, before his arrest in 2003.
Others with local connections include actors Roger Moore, Peter Davison and June Whitfield, saucy seaside postcard artist Donald McGill and alternative comedians Eddie Izzard, Jeremy Hardy and Paul Merton.

one of the guitarists of the mystery jets lives in my old house, my new one being about 1 min walk away. i knew the guy since day, hes a bit of a neek. but thats my claim to fame.

Celebs:Marc Bolan, Daniel Defoe, Edgar Allen Poe, Alexi Sayle, Barbara Windsor.
Political terrorists: Patrick Hayes, Jan Taylor and Muktar Said Ibrahim. The first two were convicted of two Red Action bombings and had substantial links to the huge lorry bombs of the 1990's. Both were arrested, firing at officers in Walford Road and later sentenced to thirty years imprisonment. The third, Muktar Said Ibrahim, was arrested in Farleigh Road suspected of planting a failed bomb on the 26 bus, misfiring later in Shoreditch on the 21st July 2005.
I have to admit I prefer the Streatham celebrities, and i thought my area was supposed to be showbiz.

You guys all get superstars, and the only fucker i ever see in my area is Neil Lennon, pushing his baby round with his shower face look on, staring you down on the street.
Someone I know got fined at court for kicking him in outside a chippy...

He was a writer for 'Chewin the Fat', a Scottish comedy series, and also plays Navid in the spin-off series Still Game.
I think still game made it to england actually, although only in the later less funny series...
