Right I'm gonna stand up for this girl cos this brought me proper jokes yesterday morning when it happened at 8am before work (aye kins
).
Firstly Peter Mandelson is absolute scum. He is the worst of the worst of the bent, blood sucking, spin weaving scum politicians and the look on his face as this happened started my day off beautifully.
Secondly as pointed out above it happened before I even left for work and I start at 8.30am. Even if she doesn't have a job I fail to understand why someone standing up for an issue they believe in and they believe is for the community's benefit is a bad thing? My theory is that it highlights our own frustration about personal apathy.
Thirdly the point of protest is not necessarily to propagate immediate change, that assumption completely misses the point. You will never get support if no one has heard your grievance, and from 8am every news bulletin I heard on Radio 1, 1xtra, BBc1 and C4 mentioned the story and had a soundbyte of the woman explaining the reason for the protest, which makes the protest a resounding success in raising awareness.
Maybe we should all stay quiet, eyes closed, fingers in ears and swallow the shit we're shovelled on a day to day basis?
