scratch mixer with fx????

After years of abuse my mixer has finally started to give up, although it has served me well. Im currently using a stanton sk2 with an optical fader, which i love. and want to get somethin with similar layout and preferably a similar fader. Recently tho i have found the urge to use some fx in my mix's and would like a mixer with a built in module. i have been looking at a stanton sa12x, and have found one for inder 200 squid. does anyone have an idea of any alternatives i would be wise to consider? thanks in advance.

If you like your mixer that you have at the moment, why not consider spending the £200 on a seperate secondhand FX module....like this badbwoy......

I hear ya. 2 reasons really, 1 my current mixer is fucked anyway so need a new one what ever the weather. And secondly i want all my attention around the decks and mixer, having another device in the set up will distract me. and its another piece of kit to carry.

Ah fair point, Can't say I've ever really looked into Scratch mixers, or mixers with effects either for that matter, but just had a quick browse on t'internet and found these:

cheers for looking into it l5d, looks like im gonna have to spend a bit more time researching myself. The 2 channel newmark is along the lines of what im after, call me a snob but im after somethin with a bit more battle scratch pedigree (obv with fx). maybe i want the best of both worlds without the funds to be able to afford it. anywho the search continues.

yeah the Numark one's look pretty cool, but my experience with Numark mixers isn't the best, every one I have ever owned has broken within 2 weeks of use
But Vestax mixers ftw!

you don't want built in FX! and specially not in your battle mixer!
And if you like to advance your scratching get a RANE!
I'v had a lot of different mixers, of which my vestax 05 lasted the longest in a 7-8 years period. And throughout this time i nearly gave up scratching.
Never found my skills tight enough.
When I got my RANE Empath I understod why every dj i ever met that have used a rane just said get a rane!
The Faders have so much control on where you want your cut!
And im not talking about the contour control, just the feel of the faders.
Both the TTMs and the empath has an FX send/return. That way you can choose the fx unit that fits your need.
One with built in fx will most likely sound worse, break faster and make the accessibility of your mixer controls more chaotic . . .
but they are expensive, but they last forever and the sound is quality!

i use serato so a ttm57sl would be my weapon of choice, but i just havnt got a spare grand. although i would be selling the serato i have now. gotta be worth saving for tho. cheers

Yeah, built in FX are ALWAYS CRAP
get a good mixer with a good, post-fader, send/return and use outboard FX like an FX processor or FX pedals.

??? but its been posted and its not a good mixer for scratching!
Faders are crap, sound is crap and build quality is crap !!!
and for a battlemixer its too much knobs in the fader area!

now, not so much as they are extremely outdated.
you can make any good quality mixer decent to cut on with an aftermarket fader like the Eclectic Breaks Pro X Fade now.
it's all about A&H, Ecler, Rane, Rodec, Urei, and the pioneer djm707 if you can find one (best mixer pioneer ever made and at a good price.... probably why they discontinued it, the dumbasses)

I've got a Pioneer 909 and it's an absolute dream.
Cross fader is butter and adjustable to the tee. There's about 60 different custom effects including 3 basic synths that generate sine waves so you can play sub live. All genrated from a touch screen in between the EQs.
The only downsides are the upfaders which are a little cheap compared to the rest of the mixer and the price...
Still, it's built like a tank and it's probably one of the best investments I've made.
