Little help from the USA heads

Alright folks,

Doing a bit of an American adventure in the summer, July-September, just wondering where's good to go for hip-hop, dubstep, funk, jazz, soul and associated sounds? Cali, Colorado, Seattle; plan on spending a lot of time in L.A. and San Fran, haven't been there in 10 years (although gotta make a stop in lovely San Luis Obispo).

Any help appreciated!
Word an' that?

ez mate, i've just got back from LA and San Fran.

I recommend Low End Theory, Wednesdays at the Airline on Broadway in LA. I played there whilst I was out there and it was ace. They have people like Nobody, Gaslamp Killer, D-Styles and Daddy Kev as residents, Daedelus, FlyLo, Samiyam, Nosaj Thing as regular guests, Mary Anne Hobbs played their recently etc.

In San Fran, try Change The Beat, Tuesdays at the Madrone on Divisidero. Dope spot. GLK set up the party with the two guys who run it now, Justin and Benji. Both sick DJs.

Hope that helps!

Not quite LA, but The Crosby in Santa Ana is always a good time on Thursdays Fridays n Saturdays. It's owned and operated by Free the Robots, friends of Nosaj, Fly Lo, Samiyam, Gaslamp, etc etc etc.

Friday nights at the Grand Star in LA are dope, event's called Firecracker. Kutmah is resident there, lots of guests there as well.

Dublab has a new Friday night thing in Silverlake at the Hyperion Tavern, Matthewdavid from Dublab and this dude from Anticon are the residents.

There is the Rootdown at Little Temple in LA on Thursdays, also a good one, been around a long time.

That's all I can think of for now, if I think of more I'll post them. Hope that helps.

nycs got crazy good hiphop. off the top of my head there's End Of the Weak @ pyramid on sundays. on mondays around the corner there's a really good open mic with a live band hosted by iLL Spokin @sin sin. not huge parties by the way. nyc is all about a good vibe in a medium sized room

If you come to New Mexico, check out Burts Tiki Lounge on a Wednesday, best hip hop night in the state. Albuquerque, is just about 5 hours south of Colorado.
