seems the only thing separating fidget house from the new wave of hype dubstep is 12 bpm. herve and his cheap thrills label leading the way.
any thoughts? who wants to be the first to label a new genre?

fidget and bassline sound pretty similar to me and will likely share a similar fate, whatever that may be. Seems to me like if you go all bright and spangly you miss out on what makes dubstep interesting, which is the darkness. that's what made jungle stand out and it's what gives dubstep its soul.

nah fidget house is a pretty funny name i think, fair do's theres some whack stuff out there bu theres some quality shit as well, a lot of the stuff zinc plays now would be classed a fidget and its too sick!

Yeah I think Crookers are alright, pretty good remixers, Herve and Sinden are pretty good too. But it does feel like there's only so far it can go.

I honestly don't think Fidget was intended to be a sub-genre people just liked the basslines and wanted to hear more of it probably. A lot of it sounds similar so really people should probably just call it house. Listening to Fidget sets all night at parties really turns you off from music in general.

In NYC a lot of folks mix fidget, dubstep, old ravey bits and glitch-hop together in sets - get some booze in me and no complaints here.

some of it is from house producers. all sick as fuck.

mind you, some of the most sucessful dubstep producers sound like that... man that is depressing. I take faith in this quote from untold:

well look at it this way:

jungle had to turn into dnb to get massively popular -> basslines get higher, rhythms simpler, hooks more obvious and familiar (cheesy?)

is it any surprise that to meet a truly mass audience dubstep has to follow a similar direction? not really. Dubstep is BASS music, it's CLUB music. If it sounds good on joe bloggs' hi-fi then you're doing something wrong, but if you want it to sell then that's exactly what it needs to do. Ok so Rusko is huge, but it's not like everyone is trying to make a rusko pastiche - just look at this forum man, all sorts of interesting shit

Don't worry about what's popular or successful to the masses, because you have to compromise to get there.

rusko must be the man of the moment because i see his name on here every day.. but yeaa he is a good example of where i see this new movement heading a mix of him and herve.
maybe the bpm will be split down the middle lol.
