Where is it gonna go to then guys? I'm curious as a long time dub maker, I've watched dance-hall,steppers dub, UK dub,jungle,ragga,bashment all develop....the list is VERY long....but dubstep is so broad...and covers most things with a B-line....dare anyone define its current sound, and maybe.....

1describe where it'll be in 5 years time?
2whats the next sub genre of dubstep?
3has it got where it has due to modern technology/computers/w.w web ?
4is it a world wide genre yet?

1)describe where it'll be in 5 years time? Where it is now, probably bigger but they'll still be a big underground scene of people doing their thing and not caring if people like it not, just doing it for the love

I think currently, dubstep is at a stage where old producers are moving the sound forward, while new producers have forgot the roots or don't know how it all started and take that for granted.

So at the moment theres this fine line where it sounds like people are m aking things what people want to hear, so they can make money and people who're doing their own thing and staying to the roots and trying to push the sound, like its 5 years ago where no one knows about it..
So really, apart from big name producers in the scene, most people are confused on how to approach the sound these days as its so diverse.

although, just to name one, well two producers who're doing it right, sticking the roots but trying something new are Fused Forces, they've come from the bottom, hit the top and still riding along getting respect from the old schoolers and the new schoolers and I have nothing but respect for them.

Yes.....its bin put elsewhere....'wobble' im sure will be a big factor in 5 years tho.....

"BASSLINE!" You know when someone says that on a track (and you know they're givin it the ali g fingers) that it's going to be shit. I fucking hate it, not that it's the future at all, it's already going on, anyone making this shit needs to be punched.

The wobble seems like the leading attribute right now, hopefully soon we'll be hearing it over some black metal blast beats and boyzone style vocals.

I dunno but looking at past scenes getting larger and mainstream. I say the future of Dubstep will split into two distinctive groups. Commercial and Underground. Someone's gonna sugar coat and whip up some Mc -Step make a shit load of money and fame. Sooner than later it will be in a car comercial, and people are gonna complain that it's not the same. Than f*cking Madonna and Sh!tney Smears working with timbaland will eventually do what they do with it...

Hopefully there will always be a strong underground following.

Either way it will probably branch out to an annoying amount of sub genres.
