his vision was beyond anyone producing 2step/garage at that time including el-b, zed etc. he brought so much to what were listening to now (dubstep). mainly benga's sound. i dunno if we'd have benga about if it weren't for wooks

little man is one of the best tunes i know of

2step as a genre is a fucking monster tho, ive been making my way back, and there is just SO much, its ridiculous really, and so much amazing stuff too

steve gurley and groove chronicles-era el-b is the stuff hitting my spots hardest though.

remember KMA's 'Blue Kards'?.. came out on Locked On part of KMAs re-con misson ep. one of the first 2step tunes to use large sub notes, minimal beats and think it even used a snippet of vocal from film... and this was 1998!

Anyone remember that Youngstar that did a 12" on New Deal Recordings - Funk Power and True VIP. Proper naughty bass business on those two

yeh mate true vip was a baad tune. same kinda time as all that second protocol stuff like basslick and them big basslines. breakbeat science ep aswell on o2 recs was a heavy ep from 2nd proto./

does anyone know what the tune is which features on kode9's fwd podcast, and his virus to be loved mix (i think... that or one of those hyperdub ones) which has the "soundboy" sample... something like "yer like a soundboy, an puff up them chess"...

my guess is a dub, maybe by artwork (i say that cos benny ill played an unreleased artwork bit one time that had a very similar aesthetic), cos i cant find a trace of anything like that out of the vague fwd camp

True VIP was dirt. Ripgroove was a banger as well, relentless bass. Did anyone hear mark 'ruff' ryder's 101% underground CD? That hd some mucky beats. Lickle rolla, Goose, Joy, Lifestyle etc
