DJs..... Numark TTX1 vs. Technics 1210/1200??
DJs..... Numark TTX1 vs. Technics 1210/1200??
right then, im trying to decide.
both are nearly affordable, recently seen more chances for rock bottom prices on pairs of TTXs than 1210s tbh tho.
opinions?.......

The TTX1's aren't bad, mate had them and they aren't terrible like many people say. I still would take no time deciding to go for Technics, they last years and are so durable. Look for a second hand pair around, i got mine for £300 and they were in amasing condition. It worth waiting till a decent pair pop up.

Any club you ever play in, anywhere, ever, will have Technics so you might as well get used to 'em!

My 1200s were rental units for many years before they were purchased by a friend in about 1995. At that point, they had suffered some damage: tonearms were dented, tonearm height adjustment was dissasembled, audio cables were flaky. I bought them in 2000 and fixed them up. I have no problems with them and I used them for a live show this past weekend.
1200s = proven durability
However, the Numarks have the promise of more functionality (swappable tonearm, reverse, faster, stronger motor).
If I were you, I'd pick up some used 1200s because it doesn't matter how used they are. They can always be restored to full glory.

I've had TTX-1's for years now, but one of them died last week. I had no trouble for a good 7 years though and I used them alot. They are solid and powerful really easy to use and mix with.
Technics are wicked mind.

I play on both quite regularly...
the TTX's have some killer features, are rock solid, and have more torque than the Technics...
the Technics are solid, are in every club, and basically the industry standard.
Ive found its harder to go from the Techs to the TTXs than back... the pitch control on the TTXs is a bit more touchy since they cram 10% of pitch adjustment into the same amount of throw (roughly) as the Techs, and the platter on the TTX's are a bit higher.
I really couldnt make the decision myself if faced with it right now, but they're both rock solid decks so either way you really cant go wrong.
