The chaotic churning shadow of modern music. Dubstep often contains elements (loads actually) of dark and hard genres. Playlist: 1349, Emperor, Coil, Kammerheit, Enslaved, Isis, etc

yea I like Kammerheit. Not got round to Coil yet.

U like Mike Harris's stuff? Scorn/Lull? Lustmord is about as dark, evil and ambient as you are going to get.

there's an ace coil version of tainted love on you tube

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eo3TUtRnZi4

I prefer the recent stuff they did like ANS, with that crazy russian synth thing.

been getting a few Hafler Trio things recently after the collab with autechre.
also got a bit of Nurse With Wound.

seeing as the original guy mentioned Isis I'll add Sunn o))) and Earth, great doom metal band. Though when I saw Sunn o))) playing live a few years back they were awful. Recorded though they are ace.

I still bust out stuff from the Ant-Zen label on a regular basis. Contagious Orgasm, Imminent Starvation, Noisex, etc.

Any place to pick up clips of any of this music, was reading about it on Wikipedia the other week and wanted to find out more. Had various friends into Coil over the years and quite impressed with a lot of their music so it'd be good to hear more.

Yeah Mick Harris got me into dub really (along w Bill laswell ) Lustmord aint bad but sometimes its so "evil" its almost cheezy anti new age sounding. Hosted Imminent Starvation here in vancouver about a year ago and have to admit he was pretty dull standard breakcore sounding. love his old stuff though and most ant zen in general. Really like Nurse w Wound and a lot of that esoteric folk/Noise stuff: Current 93, Death in June (some), nature and Orginization etc.

Bill Laswell is fucking rad. Material, Praxis, Zillatron. I recently rediscovered his Imaginary Cuba CD and have trouble going a week without listening to it.

hells yeah, big ups on the Scorn! at the time when i was all rivet-head and gave "Zander" a listen, wasn't my thing. but years later revisited his shiz and was hooked.

i kept getting sucked deeper into the whole "EBM" side of things, always looking for things experimental, dark - yet not too cornball. but now it's all fuckin gay trance with depressing, godawful singers. funny how some tried to call this shit "futurepop" when it sounded like 8 year old trance.

but yes, there's some serious shit on Ant-Zen and other labels. listening to Larvae right now, many folks here would like. also check out bands like Displacer, Antigen Shift, S:cage, Iszoloscope - Canadians reprezent!

peace,
d

You mean Isis and Aerogramme colab? Or a proper new full length? Have you heard Jesu? Amazing, loads of bass and moody as fuck.

I wouldn't have found my way to electronic music if not for Skinny Puppy and Nine Inch Nails. Respect is due.

Sunn O))) at the Hippodrome in London the other night (Friday 13th) was, erm, AWESOME! Literally.

Something like 8 massive stacks plus a big quality PA system. Robes, smoke, lasers, strobes, dooooom, gongs, incense, poses, sub bass, beat frequencies, 2 hours+. Total beatdown. Just great.
