What about predator, I like it way more then albino..

albino is neat but i hate all the tabs, massive is a massive CPU hog, dont like it,
think predator is actually gonna be my next buy, very straight forward and very CPU friendly it seems.

what are you looking for in a synth and what do you think albino got that makes it a better choice?
imho when it comes to sound i think most modern VST's are just as capable, so i look for a good GUI, something that can improve my workflow and stability (cpu efficiency)

if you feel you need tutorials to use albino maybe its not the synth your looking for, (i asume you got synthesizing experience) it has a over complicated GUI and could have been designed much better.

for phat subs i think they are all as good, its just sine waves,
and probably not something that you are gonna put heavy modulation on.

personaly i stopped using synths for my subs, just sample waveforms instead and load em up in the sampler, less stressfull for my CPU and i got more ram than i need.

Lowpassing your sub depends on the notes its playing - just to tell you hehe... You're best off making your sub line (if you're using a VST) without anything on it just a simple sine and writing your sub line at high notes (like c5 - e5 - f5) .. Then putting it down to the octave where you want it. loading up a external lowpass on the fx channel (as most filters on VSTs are basic (imo) so you get more control) and moving the low pass from around 20hz and moving it up till you get it sounding its strongest throughout the range of notes then raising the volume up and down from a slider and high pass your kick / EQ to take out some of the low sub (like the 30-80hz) out of the kick as I think personally, that's un-needed punch and wasting headroom and making it difficult for the sub.

If you're going for the generating pure sines option....

Generate a 10 or so second sines covering all the octaves you want, then putting them in a folder called (subs) and cutting them up each time you make a tune, and you shouldn't need to low pass them really.

also what frequency do you lp your subs at coz im interested in layering a bass like sub lp at 100hz then layering it with a mid bass but everytime i do this i usally hp the mid bass at a roll off at about 100hz is this right its sounds ok when i do it but the mid bass isnt going as well as it could be with the sub what would you suggest frequency wise for the mid so they both dont clash

hm well im no mixing expert, i do it by ear very much.
usually start rolling of my sub where my kick starts, then rolling in mid base after the kick,
shouldnt clash if you removed the subs from your mids and vice versa.
