umm
is it just me or is this tune REALLY fucking fast?
it's the only dubstep record i own where i have to slide down to -2 1/2 to get it beatmatched with any other current tune.
whereas the original is SLOOOOOOOOW. i can barely mix in the original with any current tune without dropping the pitch to like -1.
is dubstep going to be getting faster? has it already gotten faster? did something happen while i was sleeping?

Kode 9's remix of distant lights is pretty fast too, i have to play that around -2 as well

listening to rinse and all it always seems that the boomkat samples are slower than I'm used to hearing. so perhaps several djs just play them a bit faster. in fact, maybe kode9 has a wordy thesis on that tempo choice.
*by the way I'm working on a mix which puts them up to +5 or even +6!!! oh snap!

Fat Larry remix is 145 bpm. You'll notice lots of DJs fade it in rather than mix it...

I'll be buggered if I can work out the tempo of Burials "Broken home" - it's the only record in my collection that I can beatmatch with anything!
Any tips?
(but yeah - Fat Larry the OG is sloooooow - a little deceptive when mixing with a half-step tune. But that is what make the genre so rad)

Blackdown: i usually mix in the original - but the intro sample is so cool, it prolly works better as a fade in..

The intro sample can be beatmatched, its at the same tempo as the rest of the tune

Yeah, thats the way I've been doing it - theres a drum sound in the intro that you can measure against. Just make sure its tight!
But, like I said - I think i'll start playing the intro unmixed cause the dialog is very cool.
