coz you don't have time to,

i think those two might be the most popular options.
but i do give feedback, just not nearly as much as i probly should.

It's all subjective. One person may like something while another thinks it's shit.
I've posted on boards in the past where everyone would post things like "This song's good, but you should change X Y & Z. ((to make it something I would like))", and it really bothered me. Who am I to say they should do what they should do differently because it's not to my taste? Who are you to tell me how to write my music?
This is why I always give feedback if I like something, but don't say a word if I don't like it. I think if someone makes something and I genuinely enjoy listening to it I owe it to them to let them know and reciprocate the enjoyment, likely encouraging them to make more. If I think their music sucks, someone else out there will probably think it's great, so I just keep to myself.
I think this works for all forms of artistic media too.
tl;dr - Fuck critics.

I don't tend to give feedback if someone ups them to a site where I have to wait like 2 minutes worth of ads and malware before I can DL, then the site doesn't support download accelerators.
If you want good feedback, I suggest upping your tracks to something like soundcloud or similar which allows you to comment on actual parts of tracks, has no spyware/malware/ads embedded in the site, and allows streaming.

I agree everyone does need feedback and criticism but i don't give feedback for the following reasons:
1) If it's good i look like i'm kissing ass
2) If it's shit then people can't take it.
3) It's not up to you're average joe to put you out there, if the tunes were good enough, then a label or someone else would be on it already.
However if you're open to criticism here it is:
I didn't like you music because there was very little dynamic range in the sounds, and in general i didn't like the melodies (compositional or in terms of their sound). The bounce down could've been a bit a better too. However the drum programming was pretty tight. Just keep working at it though because these things do come with time!

i read "if you don't like it, then don't say anything" many times in every (sub) forum here.
so i guess most people go with that.

I think there's a big difference between not liking something and thinking aspects of it could do with improvement.
Obviously it's always nice if someone says they like your tune, especially if you think they mean it, but I think most people are looking for constructive criticism, which is amazingly hard to find, especially from friends.
Useful things you can comment on about someone's tune, especially if you do production yourself:
- Programming
- Mix (especially this, as having people listen on other equipment can be very useful feedback)
- Sounds (drum sounds, synths, vocals, fx)
- Arrangement (this is something I personally suck at so I always like to hear suggestions on my arrangements
Really "that's great" and "that sucks" are useless information. If you can pick out something specific it's going to be much more useful to people. Whether you subjectively like a track overall is neither here nor there, because people's tastes are so different.

well to be honest and i cant say much cause im too lazy to produce, a high majority of the stuff in the dubs section isnt really worth a listen, youve got to look out for the good producers then you can give them a "BIG UPS" or whatever you wanna say.

I just think it's a pretty boring part of the forum. Used to put my songs in there when I first started out but as I've got a bit better I can't really be bothered. People either tell you the tunes good or give minor critisism or there's some mong on there that thinks they know loads about production just slating your tune and mixdown when they don't even have any songs of their own haha
but yeah but there are some good 320s being given out sometimes

a few reasons really
1 - most of the time i'm on DSF is at work
2 - It's basically a time issue - I would be so much more inclined to visit if there was some kind of embedded player in the threads - seems lazy but the number of mouse clicks you have to make before you're listening to it really makes a difference. Especially if you're linked to sendspace and then have to download a clip.
3 - 'big tune 320 pls' - I swear you could post a 3 min tune consisting of pure white noise and this would be the response.
...but no doubt there is a wealth of great music just passing by in that sub forum that needs to be tapped - mods need to put some thought into how to cultivate it - It would only benefit the scene imo
