This coming Wednesday BASSIC presents DJ Laurie Osbourne, aka APPLEBLIM, one of Bristol's shining stars of dubstep. As co-labelhead of the prestigious Skull Disco Recordings with Shackleton, Appleblim has been a major advocate of the techno/dubstep-hybrid sound.
2008 was a big year for Appleblim, which saw him selected by Tempa to mix Dubstep Allstars Vol. 6, which was highly acclaimed as one of the year's strongest compilations. He also launched Apple Pips, a new label which has gotten off to an immense start with releases by Martyn, Ramadanman, T++ and other producers known for deep, lush rhythms.
As a DJ, TANNER ROSS's style is broad, but similar to his productions of late, he tends to focus on the darker side of House. He lists Konrad Black, Martinez, and Mattias Tanzmann as influences and can regularly be seen holding his own next to stalwarts like Claude VonStroke, Justin Martin, Matthew Dear and Ryan Elliot. Currently, Tanner is putting the final touches on the Voodeux full-length album, and he plans on resuming working on solo projects, in addition to rocking dancefloors worldwide as a DJ. Also be on the lookout for Voodeux live performances, with a premiere peformance during the 2009 DEMF.
