Birmingham New Street Station is the arsehole of the Midlands.

...and this is coming from someone who grew up in Leicester.

the bull ring, the coach station, now new st and the library, they're doing a good job, Birmingham's going to be nothing like the shithole it was in my youth, I can't remember who, but some comedian I think American, said, "man Birmingham, what can I say? Someone must have got a really good deal on some concrete." Now it's all glass and weird curves and actual grass!

Going to uni there next year! Anyone got any tips for a good night out/ dubstep scene?
Custard Factory is only place I've heard of so far..

there is no dubstep scene, a bit more recently but still not much, get a place somewhere else through clearing, there's plenty of better places to go to uni, though Birmingham Uni is really good this city is pretty dire all round.

I think Birmingham is quality, every city has shit bits and transport i always shit across the country so don't think we should single out Brum. Sure the train station does my head in but it's no different to Leeds, or Sheffield.
Going out in terms of Dubstep isn't as good as in other cities mainly because the Custard factory doesn't have a good quality permanent system, neither does Rainbow warehouse but they are still quality nights if you're not too fussy.
There is scene as i've found recently in trying to get involved as i move home, just put a bit of effort in and look around and you'll find it.

Revamp does look good, i knew they were doing up the train station and looks pretty cyber.

That's not true ONE BIT.

Leeds train station is like a cathedral of rail transport, and Sheffield station has all that weird water sculpture metal shit going on outside which looks very pretty.

And Leeds city centre is pretty damn tiny, whereas Brum is quite hefty. Although it's all about Brimingham for one simple reason:

Even the brummies I know who live(d) there hate it

It's got its good parts, KFC, Nandos and a couple of cheap off licences however.

A darnsight better than the shithole that is Newcastle though, eh.

I was referring to the train station in terms of functionality (it's actual intended purpose) rather than how it looks because who gives a fuck about that?
Besides, i think the bullring more than makes up for image, and the city centre is quality. People get bitter after they've been somewhere for a while, simple, that's just human nature.
Trust me Birmingham is decent.

It isn't actually, Newcastle is a shit hole but it's not the sprawling shit hole that is Brum. Even the brummie accent sounds like a man with his nuts in a vice. Hate the place.

Brum had the highest crime levels of a UK city for 2007 IIRC and amongst the highest in Europe, it's a shit hole. Face it. Like any city it has it's nice parts and scummy parts, Brum just happens to be the Beirut of the Midlands.
