threads being moved / deleted
this seems to be happening an increasing amount. obviously in some cases, i agree, but some decisions just seem rather strange....i think the moderation is getting slightly over zealous...

completely agree, I would prefer a more laissez-faire attitude until things actually get nasty.
I can understand that this is a DUBSTEPforum and they want to keep it as 'on-topic' as possible, and also to reflect the music/scene in a positive light, but heavy-handed moderation stops it feeling so much like a 'community', more just a place to drop in and pick up/share info.

defo agree with thatMr Hyde wrote:Yeah the fact its 9 pages long shows its something people want to read about and reply to, no need for telling people what they should or shouldnt discuss. Let people slag each other off if they want to, if someone specifically asks a mod to shut an offencive or threatening thread down then I guess do it then, but its an internet forum- no need for this heavy parenting/policing just when things are getting interesting and a bit heated or isnt a view you share, freedom of speach= freedom to piss people off!
Lilly Allen hating, Kode 9 writing critisising, Moaning threads or whatever are the most interesting discussions- thats why they go on for loads of pages.

Who decides what's whining and bitching though? I understand if that's all there is to it, but most discussions on here are just people expressing different viewpoints - it's pretty derogatory to forum members that might feel differently that any negative comment, no matter how well substantiated, that there opinion is seen as just "whining".luke.envoy wrote:im behind the mod on this 1, i dont wanna see a forum full of whining and bitching dressed as music debatePangaea wrote:Lame. If we took that away we'd just have an endless circle jerk to whichever latest platter's getting rinsed.
Hmm....

due to the amount of members obviously everyone is gonna have their 5 pence to stick in on a contraversial issue
so why delete and move threads that are obviously attracting people attention?
this evangelising of dubstep is ridiculous, if people have complaints to voice then they should be able to do so here primarily. this isnt a PR outlet. Or rather it sort of is nowadays, but it shouldnt be.
anyway im not that bothered, as i feel very jaded about this place already. just wish there were more blogs around with intelligent discussions going on, like a few years back.

The Losing Interest thread in particular (ironically) was one of the more interesting reads to show up in a while. Some good points were put on both sides. I think the forum as a whole seems to be getting a tad less lively due to some debates being stifled. Quite where ignoring the opinions of the audience (let alone deriding them)is going to get the scene is anyone's guess.
And don't go Alex, we need those opinions here.
Hmm....

yeah agreed, whatever happened to the "'llow the haters" attitude? Not saying that hate is the right word really, just that presenting a veener of unanimous opinion is a] a bit weird and b] making this place boringly repetative.Alex bk-bk wrote: this evangelising of dubstep is ridiculous, if people have complaints to voice then they should be able to do so here primarily. this isnt a PR outlet. i didnt even realize the "losing interest" thread got censored. and i do agree that it seems to be at the whim of the moderators.
on all the other boards ive ever belonged to, threads dont get locked until actual offensive statements are being made. i. e. slander, racial slurs, threats. unless i missed something, i didnt see any of that in the "losing interest thread" or in the kode9 thread, which i actually was enjoying reading. makes things rather boring to know that debate gets squashed here.
hell, i expect that by about page 4 of this thread, will see the little lock symbol.

Heads are overreacting a bit here. You can hardly call it a squashing of debate when threads have reached 10-15 pages or more and have been sitting on the forum for a few days to a week. The arguments just get recycled and recycled by people that post and dont read the whole thread (something im good at), most of the time everything that could be said has been said by page 3 anyway. Its not a big deal.

i hear what you are saying, but at the same time, if you see a thread that is wace, you certainly dont have to read it. however if someone thinks they still have something to contribute to it, they have no choice if its shut down.Jubscarz wrote:Heads are overreacting a bit here. believe me, there are some i think go too long, but i just skip over them. i dont know if shutting them down is the right way to go, its like forcing discretion.
