Svetlana Industries presents:
PIRATE FM: REVENGE OF THE NERDS!
FULGEANCE (France) – LIVE! (Musique Large, One Handed Music, Beat Dimensions)
“the bastard child of Flying Lotus and Modeselektor”
www.myspace.com/fulgeance
Known as “the one man festival”, Fulgeance a.k.a. Pierre Troel delivers blistering live sets on two Akai MPCs, the legendary hip hop production instrument used by everyone from Dr Dre to DJ Shadow. His music is the ultimate collision of hip hop and electro – squelchy synth lines plus phat rockin beats. Currently remixing a Brazilian singer for Gilles Peterson.
1000NAMES (Bulgaria) (Eklektik Records, France, Beat Dimensions, Rinse)
playful, glitchy, meaty, beaty
www.myspace.com/1000names
1000names – 99 Mistakes and Casio Blaster from Bulgaria – have just released their debut album on France’s Eklektik records label, and they are already getting widely praised. Their music takes from the past, whether it be easy listening hits of the 60s or old American adverts for lemonade and mashes it up in a totally new way, with heavy beats, charm and humour throughout.
Their DJ sets are really great: original, wide ranging but totally funky. Genuine dancefloor friendly experientation.
“Wonky” (a.k.a. synthfunk, glitch hop etc.) is a progressive new scene that’s been emerging over the last couple of years. If you know Hudson Mohawke, Flying Lotus or Rustie you’ll know the kind of sound we’re talking about. It’s going off pretty big right now.
