I'd say "BEST REGGAE ALBUM OF 2009" but let's wait for June, Alborosie will release his new LP and I hope it will be at least as sick as YT's.
good year for reggae .. awesome fuckin' year

I know Greensleeves are releasing the Alborosie album, but you can't really call it British.
Alborosie is an Italian who's based in Jamaica, whereas YT is 'Straight Outta Britain'.

man I'm pretty sure that was 2008, or earlier, I've had it for ages. And yes it might be the best English Reggae album for a while, but stil it's nothing too special.

YT's first album 'Straight Outta Britain' came out three years ago. 'Born Inna Babylon' was released on 1st May 2009.

didn't say Alborosie is English reggae, was talking about reggae as a whole.
however, I wouldn't call YT English reggae either - he's more New Roots. he uses New Roots riddims (Roots Tonic, Everyday, etc). I call English reggae the steppah one, heavily influenced by dub, stuff like Kenny Knots, Mikey Murka, Barry Isacs, etc..

OK, but people were making Reggae in Britain long before anybody was talking about UK Dub. Check what YT's saying on 'England Story'. He's heavily influenced by the Saxon DJs and their 'fast talking style' amongst others.
YT's capable of turning his hand to a whole heap of different styles - he's a Reggae artist plain and simple; he just happens to be from England.
When I say best British Reggae album - I just mean that it's the best Reggae album from this place.
