yeah, all the ducers/mixes on there seem to just be on some Tipper copycat shit, different genre to what we chat about here imo. And there is few threads about music because there is so few good 'glitch hop' artists. Which also means every mix has the same tunes

Tipper - Pins & Needles [Tipper Music]
Aquasky vs. Masterblaster - Certain Sounds [Botchit (4 Vini CD #2)]

yep, had loads of Fuel vinyl but sold it all except the 'Dissolve Out' 12" with remixes from Buckfunk3000, U-ziq and Phoenecia

was lucky enough to catch him at Fabric a few years back when he was promoting 'Tip Hop' and 'Relish The Trough', he destroyed the place, was making people fall over

dayum, 'Tip Hop' still sounds fresh, leads the pack from 8 years back

"... ~*+get in oooon biggedy biggedy booong, can't touch the flow *briggedy bring it*+~"

i know man. this is why a lot of the 'glitch hop' being made just seems a bit like a cheap immitation. Maybe it'll get better as the sound develops, but :| I'd draw for the tipper record all day

Maybe if you were having these same conversations over there as you are here, there would be more traffic and the same good stuff that gets posted here, but not relegated to the subforum on another genre's forum... crazy idea, but it just might work!

And if you think its all Tipper knock offs, you havent looked hard enough. Eprom is one who comes instantly to mind who's doing something very innovative and fresh. Alex B and Devon(Who) are another two, in a different vein, who are doing something thats decidedly not like Tipper.

Or just stay here... leave all the dubs to us. ;)

yeah Eprom is the only stuff I like from that whole breaksy area. others are OK but not worth buying the recerds, I got a good Subvert tune on wax actually. Alex b & Devon isnt what I call Glitch Hop. thats the instrumental hiphop side which is what gets discussed here and is the tip DJs/producers here are on, no? thats closer to the stuff I like anyway. I made a few threads over there about shit I like but it just seems a differnt genre tbh.

They're trying to lump it all together... like I've said to them, I dont like Glitch Hop as an umbrella term anymore than I like wonky as a genre name, but gotta call the place something. www.wonkyforum.com would have been fail before it even started.

I mean, dubstep is a pretty wide genre name, and the name really has nothing to do with how the genre has developed, but it works as an umbrella term (now) for most styles of bass heavy music at around 140bpm. Joker has about as much to do with El-B as Alex B does with Eprom, but Joker and El-B are both considered "dubstep", so why cant both Alex B and Eprom be called Glitch Hop?

On that topic... yeah, Alex and Devon are making music that could be classified as hip hop, but you cant call them hip hop anymore than you can call Joker hip hop - Meaning you can call them both hip hop all you want, but if you asked the average hip hop cat from Brooklyn if they are, they're gonna say no. It really is very subjective.

Point being, instead of giving this subforum more traffic, head on over to www.glitchhopforum.com and start your discussions over there to help build the community instead of trying to plug yourself into a forum that has even less to do with what youre already talking about.

not sure i get that approach

you're poaching traffic from a forum to get them onto another?

this subforum is based around what people are into and a lot of the music on show here and being discussed is inextricably linked with dubstep or "d" or "purple" or whatever artists at nights, in mixes, on labels and in releases combining hip hop, "wonky" and strains of dubstep

:o x :?

iv been registered over there for ages, and post stuff there when i want to find out stuff to do with 'west coast US centric glitchmob esque' stuff.

i post here for everything else hiphop tbh, best resource on the internet atm for this kind of music.

different forums, different focus imo. nothing wrong with that afaik!

Wow, sorry for trying to broaden people's musical horizons. :o

Didn't think of it as spam or "poaching".

Just tryin' to connect more like minded people.

My bad.

fairplay man 8)

my horizons are widescreen as it is, too much to keep up with across lots of genres and i was/am into some glitch hop already ... not a fan of the rnb vocally type stuff though and that seems to be a big theme in the US based ideas, Glitch Mob do nothing for me, and that's not meant as a cheap dig, i really don't connect with them at all ... edIT's first solo album however is sublime ... i have no use for glitch production techniques either ...

but
