Disgusting...

After years of production and DJ'ing I noticed recently that my hearing recently sounded a little 'muffled'.

So off I went to the quacks and got my lug-holes syringed! Not the nicest of experiences and the shit that came out was shocking considering I keep my ears in good nick, but the results are amazing!

I'm hearing so much more in tracks and everything in general. The clarity of sound is unreal. It really is that good.

The only downside is that most of my tracks from the last 12 months now sound 'tinny' where I'd been upping the hi's to compensate for what my blocked ears were filtering out!

Seriously. Go get 'em done.

Thanks for taking time to read this quite useless thread, and I expect the usual Ham/Flame/Alpaca taunts to follow... :D

Makes sence!!!

I heard that a bunch of people will wear ear plugs in bed the night before they get up to do a final mixdown. Makes the hearing sharer once the plugs are taken out.

^ This ^

I saw/heard the Aba Shanti I sound system last year and had earplugs in for the whole 3 hour set.

There were people next to the speaker stacks with nothing. My bet is serious tinnitus is now their friend!

There are over-the-counter drops that will do the trick, but going to the dr's office will get it done faster and be more thorough...the OTC drops take a couple of days to work, and doesn't do as good of a job. Things will definitely sound 'tinny' and loud for a while, but that's just because all the wax has been removed, which isn't necessarily a good thing, as your ears do need a certain amount of wax, so I'd recommend giving it a week or so after the cleaning before you start remixing your tunes.

And so starts the influx of budding producers, queuing up at the doctors to get their ears syringed :)

Hearing is key though, I agree

I have 2 - 12" subs in my car with 1000W going to them... they probably reach 130db, 140db is the pain threshold for the typical ear

gotta be careful, only got one set...

im hoping hearing aid technology gets ridiculously good, and soontime! I, like most other dubsteppers, am a hardcore bass junkie

I wouldn't worry, it's all about the high end making you deaf. You can pump your ears full of bass weight till the cows come home.

I normally use a nice 25Hz tone on a 26" sub to knock the ear wax out my head. Ironic...

Random question, how old are you, I'd like to hope my hearing hasn't started crapping out on me yet, only been going to clubs for like 3 years.

I had my ears cleaned by the doc to... Seems like i can go back now though.. Everything sounds muffled again. My BIGGEST fear of everything is going def someday.. It won't happen since i have good hearing, but that would totally fuck up my life!!

I toke a shower and my ear locked for a three days or so and I was forced to visit my doc, so got also my holes syringed. I can hear now how my clothes crackle when I walk :D All this shit was there for a years :?

And don't use matches to clean your ears!
