Simple Question:

I had one of those wotsits out of The Matrix plugged into the back of my neck... Took about 5 hours.

I woke up and said, 'I know compression'.

It was all quite simple really.

Err... Books. And Computer Music magazine.

And an uncalculable amount of all-nighters experimenting.

going to running start next year, which basically means i get to take community college classes for free while going to highschool, im taking this...

MUSC 185 - COMPUTER MUSIC AND RECORDING
Intro to the technical skills of electronic music production and recording. Covers the basic elements of music including listening, improvising, recording, arranging, mixing and digital editing. Create original music using stimuli. Learn mixing and audio production, including sound shaping, effects use and midi sequencing.

talked to my buddy who took it last year and he said you basically just learn how to use reason 4 and get a lot of time to fuck around on it, pretty stoked especially since im not paying anything to take it.

Depending on the school, it might not be. Several universities I looked at had audio recording separate from their music programs.

In Toronto we're forced to take up an instrument from grades 6-8... I chose Trumpet in grade 6....

by grade 7 I was so bad at trumpet, my music teacher made me play drums instead...

then I sat on the big marching band bass drum and hammered the shit out of it as well as hit break beats on the set...

I wasn't a great, but I went to school... lol...

More relevantly, I've just been fucking with fruity loops / reason / ableton for the past few years

Like futures untold I spend all nighters often...

Haven't gone to audio engineering school but I might in the future. I did intern at a recording studio for a year or so though and that helped me a ton.
